Okay, a couple years ago she gave me this HIDEOUS VEST that looked totally mid-90's (it had BIG sunflowers on it! Think: the t.v. show "Blossom") and I gave it to Goodwill.........problem is that she brought it up outta nowhere and said she wanted me to WEAR it or give it to her to wear........Do I tell her the truth or do I lie?? I can't avoid her for too long cuz I live with them!!! Help!

Ok, normally I'd say tell the truth. But in this case LIE!!! Say you spilled bleach on it. You feel terrible about it, and didn't want to hurt her feelings that it was ruined. You threw it out. End of story.

If it is a couple of years ago then you really shouldn't feel bad about saying you gave it away to charity. You don't have to tell her WHEN you did though. You can say it didn't fit so you passed it on and that you had no idea that she would have been interested in it. Offer to go shopping with her to find a new one and maybe she will get an idea of your style and she won't try to give you another like that!

Did she make this vest? I hope not. Anyway you can tell her the truth or you can say that it was a lovely gift but over the past few years your tastes have changed and that you had given it to a friend who really loved it and is wearing it to this day.

She can't ask for a gift back or expect that you'd still have it after 2 years. Just tell her it got damaged in the wash and you were unable to repair it. I've had to do that. It worked. Then I thought about the nerve of someone asking for something that they had given me. Now that's wrong and she should be embarrassed.

ouch it was noble of you to give it to goodwill but u always keep ugly clothes for a least 3 years just in case some one wants you to wear it. tell the truth.

Tell her you wore it out wearing the vest so much that it became tattered and you gave it to charity.

Tell her you loaned it to a friend and she never returned it. Then your friend moved away and you never saw or heard from her again.
