Slightly long and nicely manicured is very sexy. Extremely long nails looks swanky. There was a girl at my office who I thought was real cute and sexy. and we spoke one day and I noticed her nails were about 1/2 inches long. And, I thought that was sick and never hung out with her again.
On the other hand, if it's 1/4" or less, that's pretty cute.

There's a length limit. If they're too long they'll look ridiculous. How long is too long? If you can't dial your phone or do other tasks properly then your nails are probably too long. So, if they're too long, no it's not hot.
If they're the right size ... they will look really cute on a girl! I don't think a girl should always have her nails done though. It should just be occasionally for going out or special events. I think long nails are elegant, especially the ones with nice designs. They look really cute on a girl! Hair + Nails done? Wow that's a SUPERB combo, very very cute! :)

I've never been attracted to or disgusted by long fingernails.
I do have a pet peeve about long fingernails, though, and that's when a woman has nails so long or is so concerned with breaking one of them that they can not or will not do something that any other person could do. When vanity impedes daily function, it annoys me and it becomes a turn-off.

I think long nails are hot, especially manicured ones, or ones which are well taken care of. Nobody likes dirty nails.

longs nails on a pretty woman = hot
long nails on an ugly woman = not so hot

Some nails, with polish, are hot -- "man-hands" are not hot, nor are scary vampire fake, curly nails. They just say "this person does no work"
