I think i kind of do the same thing. it's not that you know you can do the job. but that you know you could do the job but the possibility of failing at it. and you can't fail if you don't try. but if you go for something you don't know if you can do and you succeed in it that you pat yourself on the back. and if you fail at it "no big cause you already knew you didn't know what you were doing"... Right? yeah i thought so. to solve this problem have confidence in yourself because you are a powerful woman and not matter what you put your mind to you can do it.

If what you know you're skilled in is something that you are passionate about you will be successful... GO AFTER IT!!

You nee to work on your self confidence. You don't believe in yourself, maybe some past experience made u feel this way. If you are qualified for the job, just bite the bullet and apply and get the job and you will be okay. Its all in your mind.

You are confusing assertiveness with relationships or appearing pushy. Go to Amazon.com and google assertiveness. These books are "self help" books and you do your homework on which book you believe hits home for you. You will feel it in your heart and once you read it... you will learn simple steps to get your mind out of that cycle.

People need your services and skill. You are depriving people of your uniqueness you can bring to the table, now start reading. You will be glad you did.

I'm no therapist of psychologist but to me it sounds like you have a self-confidence and self-esteem issues. You have to remind yourself of what your good qualities are.

A way to build-up your confidence and esteem is to write down a detailed list of your accomplishments and qualifications. Take your time doing this.

Then review your list several times daily, and especially when you make appointments for interviews. And again right before you go to the interviews.
