I am living in the UK and would like to send some luggage over to South Africa (about 1 suitcase) What company would be the best and the cheapest to use?

Check with the UK postal service to see if they offer a media mail rate. Not sure what it is called there but it is how shippers ship books, newspapers and other heavy items. It is slower than regular postal mail but much cheaper. If you send such a large item by DHL or FedEx, it will be quite expensive!

I agree to check with the postal service, but Media Mail is specific to Media; cds, dvds, books & the like.

You can mail something Surface mail, which is slower & cheaper than 1st class. Check into that.
