Hi. I've had sort the tummy bug (no fever) with mostly vomiting for a couple of days. Tomorrow, I have a 12 hour flight that I need to take (not negotiable). I'll see my own doctor once I return home, but can anyone suggest a medicine that I can get at the pharmacy or home remedy that's a little more effective than pepto? Many thanks!

I just went through the same thing, travelling with a bug, and YUCK. However, some things that might help: ginger tea really settles your tummy down. Gravol pills will kill the nausea and vomitting, but may put you to sleep. Take when you get on the plane, and you should be fine by the time it lands in 12 hours (perhaps well rested!) Bring some soda crackers and water, which are probably the best things to put in your tummy if you feel hungry. And best of luck to you. Feel better soon.

He could have the flu. It does sound rather sudden though. I would take him to ER if it was me or at least call a health link number. Could have something to do with the shot, some of them can cause naseua. If he is dehydrated, buy some Pedilyte. It is a drink like sweet water, although he might be to young for that. I would take him to a doctor or even just call the emergency room. They wil give you advise. Check for a fever and sit with him. What him closely. Probably just a flu bug that has to work its way through

take oil of oregano, found at most health food stores. The most widely known and spread benefit of oregano oil is its ability to cure mild stomach problems. It's perfect for stomach bacteria and highly recommended killing bad bacteria. Take 3--6 drops in a small glass of water up to 4-5 times a day

The ingredients in Dramamine and Benadryl are the same once they have been processed by your liver - so Benadryl is an effective anit-emtic (no barf) drug and is sold everywhere. Also just sip water, other drinks might make things worse. Also you might want to stick with bland NON-DAIRY foods.

Meclizine (brand name Bonine)!!! You can find it over the counter at a drug store nearby. It's what they gave me to stop the vomiting & nausea when I had vertigo...they couldn't stop my world from spinning, but they could make it so that the spinning no longer made me ill. Somehow, it disconnects the nausea feeling...I have even used it for hangover symptoms!
