I asked a question about evolution and several Christians politely pointed out that evolution contradicts the Biblical account of creation, which I do believe is true. A lot of you said, basically, "The Bible is true, so if science says otherwise, then science is wrong." I respect that, even if I don't agree with it.

{It was also mentioned that without the fall of Adam and Eve, Jesus' death was not necessary. I reject this argument because humans are "sinful" (as sin is defined in the Bible) regardless of what our ancestors did, so our need for salvation would not disappear if Adam and Eve hadn't existed. (No, I'm not a Christian, but I used to be one.)}

My question is this: If the creation story is "true" (i.e. literal and correct and not a parable for the human condition), why does science have so much evidence for an old earth and evolution? Did God put the evidence there to test our faith or are all the scientists wrong?

Argh, I noticed a confusing bit in my question. When I said "which I do believe is true", I mean that I agree that evolution and the Genesis account contradict, when taken literally. I did not mean that *I* take the Genesis account to be true.

Yahoo really needs to give me more characters to work with. :_(

This is just my theory...I think the Bible was written so children of that time could understand it.So few people were educated,they had to learn from simple stories.They would not understand the theory of evolution..Now that we understand and see the proof of evolution, why no believe that this is Gods plan for us to evolve to greater understanding of the master plan...

The only reason you see scientists trying night and day to discover how the world came about and discredit God's work is because they just cannot understand how God works. Now if you asked a scientist how is it possible for a baby to grow in a womans womb, and have all body parts they will give you a scientific answer that just outlines how much they know about chromosomes and cells.
Now ask them and anyone else, where breath comes from ( i mean the ability to breathe and live) how your legs and body parts are proportionally made to fit your body and why you need them for specific tasks and believe me no evidence of science can provide this information.
Instead of scientists and evolutionalists spending countless hours discrediting creation which we all know (though some people tend to want to deny) is true and that God in his infinite wisdom created everything and placed it perfectly shouldnt we just be thanking God for giving us a chance to be alive and have life.
By the way for those still in doubt, according to evolution the world happened out of a big bang or explosion( i dont believe this) now on the other hand if you read the Bible clearly, you will see that everyhting was made strategically and with a plan. the waters were formed before the fish were, the land was formed before the animals and man were created.
as for the question regarding Adam and Eve, before they sinned, they had no idea of sin or disobedience. they lived in peace and harmony, with the disobedience came the sin and hence Jesus and our salvation.

Gezza is an idiot who obviously has no idea what he/she is talking about.

The evidence to support biological evolution and an 'old' Earth is overwhelming while all the creation advocates have is the Bible. I must tell you though evidence means nothing to these people. They would rather hide themselves in delusion than face the facts. So, from experience, I can tell you it does not matter what you show them, they will still disagree and claim the Bible to be the know-all truth. It's both frightening and frustrating.

Christian: a million. even have under no circumstances heard of it. 2. My professor defined evolution as substitute, and everybody interior the the main suitable option strategies can not deny that the Earth and its organisms have gone with the aid of substitute with the aid of historic past. whether, simply by fact the inspiration of existence is worried (biogenesis vs. spontaneous era) we do not have any clarification for how inorganic compounds grew to grow to be organic and organic (as properly Gods intervention of path). And no, God gave us technology as a cutting-edge to bypass extra into self-understanding. i think of God and evolution are actual reconcilable if we expect of of it in this type, it does not make me pick the flow from God.

I think evolution took over after creationism. After all, I know there is evidence of evolution, but it all starts after the animal or person is already around. Humans, for example, have gotten taller, lived longer lives, immunities have changed and so on. But, we've always been humans. There is no scientific evidence of a between species that states we evolved from a lower form. We have always, even in the scientific evidence of evolution, been human.

now I would like to address something you said....you stated how you reject the argument that we would not have needed Jesus sacrifice because man is sinful even with out the fall of Adam and eve....well...you are wrong.....Adam and eve were born with out the sin nature....but they had free will...because wants His creation to choose to love Him , not force them to love Him.....they had open Communion with God anytime they wanted....could talk and hear him anytime....no sin stood between them to block that relationship.....but when they chose to listen to the serpent thus sin entered into all man....so they were not filled with evil until that time.....thus man as we are today....that is a very very basic knowledge one comes to when they first come to the Lord....all Christians should know this...it is a big part of the doctrine....of who we are and why we are in this state and why God needed to send His son as a sacrifice for all.....

Scientists can search till the cows come home - They will never get anywhere near the precise point and they will never answer the question "How did it all start". One day soon though all will be revealed - Keep watch
