The spots are all over her lower belly and inner thighs. There are some in a spot on both outter thighs and on the back of her hind legs. It seems as though they may itch. Is she allergic to something? Could it be the carpet? I don't have the money at this time to take her to the doctor. I just moved and the vets here are extrememly expensive! Please help!

NOTE: TO "TORBAYNEWFS".
For someone who's been a vet tech for 17 yrs, you sure aren't very helpful!! I am an adult, and I can call my dog's body parts by whatever name I please!

NOTE: Re. To TORBAYNEWFS.
Please...grow up! It doesn't matter what anyone calls the body parts of their pets. Everyone has different names they prefer or like to use. You like "vulva", and I like "punani"..so what! Get over it already!

It can be an allergic reaccion, and if so, it can be due to the carpet. To find out, try to keep it off the carpet and if it gets better then u know what was causing it. You can give it daily omega-3 fatty supplement w its nutrients and within 3 weeks the symptoms should decrease.

Hope this helps! Any other things, or if it doesnt work you can contact me at kelleyvanessa2000@yahoo.com. Since im an aspiring veterinarian, i'd really like to help.

She could have an allergic reaction to something on the floors, carpet or tile, it could be chew spots, where she has fleas or really dry skin and she chews to itch, and she's doing it to often. My dog has that problem. Try giving her a bath in dawn, or something other then dog shampoo. Dog shampoo, can actually make a dogs dry skin worse. And it doesn't always kill the fleas and tics like the name says! Dawn is great for fleas, kills them almost immediately, so make sure you give her a good suds-ing up, and let her sid for just a few minutes, then rinse her. If you see any more fleas, wash her again. I wouldn't wash her more then twice in one bath, and at the very most, 1 bath per month.

Also, stop using the carpet stuff for a while, and see if they go away. If not, then maybe try changing your laundry detergent(s). If the dog sleeps on your bed, or lays on your lap, then it could be a rash from the detergent. If it isn't THAT, then it could be something in your yard, seasonal allergies, the water she's drinking, some other type of cleaning stuff.

You said that you just moved, so maybe it's a reaction to the move. Dogs can develop rashes, due to stress or sudden changes. Just like people can. If it isn't bleeding, then just tell her to stop chewing, and grab her attention when you do, so she'll learn what it means. You can also try putting some calimine lotion, or some preperation-h(it's anti itch cream, not a hemmeroid cream!) on her. If they get better in about a month, then it was jsut the move, stress or change, which triggered the rash. If it doesn't clear up in a couple months, with the lotion or cream, then I'd take her to the vet.

You might want to start saving up for a regular checkup now. You can also get some animal insurrance. It's just like people insurance, so if you ever need to take her to the vet, you'll have most of it covered.

Good luck to you!!

Anyone on here would pretty much be guessing. Even doctors won't diagnose without seeing the patient. Sounds like the dog needs a vet. Use a credit card, arrange for payments, something.

Do you mean genitals? It's probably allergies or it could be from the stress of the move.

Try some fatty acid supplements. That will help calm her skin. If that doesn't work, find out if there is a low cost pet clinic in your area and take her there.

Watch the dog and see if she is itching and biting at the spots. And rate her discomfort from 1 to 10 and if its higher than a 5 you def need to take her to the vet.

This is one of those instances that, whether you like it or not, you need to take a visit to the vets. She could very well be allergic to something, particularly since you moved into a new environment. This sounds like the most likely, and your veterinarian can provide you the best form of treatment. She may require systemic and topical treatment.
