If I go into this program will this help me enter the USCG? If so what will it do? Right now I'm 14 and really hoping to get into the coast guard after high school. What are some things they do to prepare you for the military?

Thanks

The Civil Air Patrol is a civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force, and was founded on Dec 1, 1941. The organization is modeled directly after the USAF, and as a part of the Cadet Program the cadet members are taught military customs and courtesies, drill and ceremonies, and Air Force history. If a CAP cadet joins the USAF, he/she is allowed to enlist in a higher rank than the average recruit if he/she has attained a certain rank in the CAP cadet program.

I don't know if this program applies to the USCG; I would have to take a guess and say no, but the only way to be sure is to contact a Coast Guard Recruiter and ask him.

The military training and experience you get in the cadet program, however, is an excellent way to prepare for military service no matter what branch you go in!
