My daughter, who is 18 has had a stye for the past two weeks and now it is just a painless hard lump that is slightly visible. After her Dr's appointment today she has booked her in with the an eye specialist to have it cut out next week, she's very worried and is not convinced that enough has been done to try and get rid of it (she's been having eyedrops for the past week, and it has shrunk from half the size that it was) is this too soon for surgery?

I used to get styes all of the time when I wasn't taking care of my contacts properly. I never heard of anyone having surgery to remove one. I always used a gel that was put on the stye and they went away. If you think it's too soon for surgery, get a second opinion. I know I would.

I used to get styes when I was a kid. They always went away by themselves with no scarring.
