We remember them to respect them and to hope that history will never repeat the tragic loss of life during 1914-1918. Yes they would be old now but remember that thousands of them signed up for war when they were only 15, 16, 17, 18 years old...they lied about their ages to go and fight for their country and gave their lives...they were brave and may God Bless all of them. I doubt if any of the little hoodie shites that we have roaming the streets today would go unless they were fighting against old age pensioners and women. THAT'S WHY WE REMEMBER THEM.

Because those por sods and the other wars people all faught like hell so people like you and me can live in peace, now I do hope u are not trying to dishonour those poor sods, god love them all dead or alive. All the wars our older generation faught for us were wars, these poor folk were right up at the front like sitting ducks.
Do what I do when I see an old person who is wearing their britiush legion jacket, also dont forget the other old people who may not be identified as being in the war, but no matter who, male or female, stop them and shake their hands and say thankyou for my life, I cannot even think what these poor sods went through.
they didnt have weapons of today, shoot someone from miles away or bomb a country thousands of miles away sitting in a room.

I'm pretty shocked to find a question of this nature here.
I suggest you have a look on the net at what these poor men went though and how many died not just from the UK, but elsewhere. It was said to be the 'War that ended all wars' it was so terrible. Unfortunately we haven't learned anything.

Because they gave their lives for their country and for future generations. Lions led by donkeys. Very few of them left alive, all over 100 years old. No one can begin to imagine the horrors they went through, most of them barely out of their teens. Whether you think wars right or wrong, remember these men, they did what they thought was right at the time. They had more courage in their toenail clippings than the scummy little chavs roaming the streets today.
Strange. A thumbs down. Must've upset someone.

Learnt this week that my town doesnt have a war memorial listing the fallen from WW1 or WW2. A guy has set up a 'virtual' memorial in its place, and Im going to see if we can start a campaign to get a permanent memorial built.
Lest we forget.
And screw this idiot that posted the question, they are just trolling. Dont answer the question, just give a bad vote.

Soldiers of the British Army died in their hundreds of thousands on the battle fields of the WW-1. They died in war so that we should be free.
Likewise, hundreds of thousand of French soldiers also died in that war, so that France should be free.
American soldiers also died in that war.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

If you give your life in the hope that it will make the world a better place for future generations to live in, you deserve to be remembered. Its not their fault that people still keep screwing things up.

Because they gave their lives fighting for their country & the people & places they loved.
It wasn't their fault that it was a particularly stupid & pointless war: they weren't the ones who started it !

Because they made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of their country, and the least they deserve is to be remembered for it.
