I"ve been seeing this for the past few days. "Is it haram to do this," and "Is it haram to do that?" I always thought a haram was a group of girls/boys/both used for sexual pleasure. So, theses questions don't make any sense.
What are they trying to ask when they say, "Is it haram?"

And let this be a lesson. Bad spelling, whether on the computer or in your mind, can lead to some really stupid mistakes. Boy, am I red.

You're thinking of harem, not haram. Haram is an arabic word that basically means 'forbidden' or 'taboo'.
"Is it haram to do blah?" means, "is it morally permissible or forbidden [generally under Islam] to do blah?"

In Arabic, "haram" is the word used to describe a sin according to Islam.
A "harem" is a group of concubines used for sexual pleasure.
Two different words.
Hope that helps.

Haram is unacceptable behaviour, food or drink... The opposite of Haram is Halal which describes what is allowed, particularly behaviour or dietary choices which Allah favors.

Haram refers to things that are forbidden or bad for you in Islam.
Halal refers to things that are permissible or good in Islam.
You are thinking of the word Harem not Haram.
Hope that clears the confusion for you.

Well, the word "haram" means what is not allowed for a muslim. So basically, if i were to say, "it is haram for me to drink alcohol." that basically means that its against my religion. i hope that answers ur question.
