I think its because the non-skinny are jealous.
I was stick thin growing up. Could eat anything, twice at that.
Being an adult now I have lost my 'puppy fit'. I am a little more plump around the arms, tummy, thighs. And I notice, I cant wear the little tank tops, sleeveless tops and skinny jeans with abandon anymore. I tend to think before I put outfits together.
Then sitting with my hubby in a food mall the other day, I saw a young pretty girl with a short little micro and leggings swishing by, and in an instant, I knew what I had, and how it really looked, and mostly WHY people used to react so strongly to me earlier.
I was staring at her lovely young waist and slim hips and I remembered what it was like to wear stuff like that and look great.
I do miss what I had, sometimes, but I would be in a bad temper from dieting, not having the habit ever to watch what i eat! lol Its natural to change shape and grow as you get older and I have to accept the way I am now. I am still not fat or even plump, but I am not stick thin anymore.
I miss that nice figure, and now I understand the comments, and where they ACTUALLY came from (not concern as they would have you believe). its just plain jealousy. So if you are skinny enjoy it. Its a great thing to have, but please dont barf or do any crazy diet to get there. Accept yourself as you are.

This isn't just a fat/skinny thing. It happens to other types of people as well.
As a fat person I used to think that fat people had it tough. I learned it wasn't just us because of two people in my life.
The first was a very skinny friend in college. We used to commiserate about how we would get the Wow are you ******! You know if you just ate more/less you would gain/lose weight.
The second was a guy I dated for 2 years with whom I am still friends who is6'9". I was appalled at how often people felt they had the right to make rude comments about how tall he was.
The comments say a lot more about the commenter than the commented on. Rude people are rude. It doesn't matter what they comment on with regard to body issues. It is none of their business.
Don't let it get you down. It isn't you, it's them.

Depends on the definition of skinny. With model skinny, well they're all skin and bones and look like they don't eat and they barf a lot and look emaciated and sick.
However, I have small bones but I'm not skinny. When people see my arms and legs they practically scream "Eat something!" Well I can't help it, it's in my genes. I hate it. I'm not anorexic by any means. Why people feel that they have this strange preoccupation with my weight is weird. I'm 5'9" and 145#. My doctor says I'm healthy and at a good weight. But John Q Public feels the need to tell me to eat. It's very rude to assume something like that. Chalk it up to peoples' lack of decorum.
(I've been known to tell people who give me unsolicited advice like that "Wow, and have you gained weight lately??" That shuts them up.

Because, in the past (and STILL today), we fat people were persecuted, of course! My Avatar may be of a skinny person, but in real life, I AM OVERWEIGHT!!! SOOOOOO... maybe it's about time that the skinny and the emaciated should be frowned upon! ROTFLMMFAO!!! Now payback's a *********., ain't it? (STILL laughing!)

skinny people as well as fat people are persecuted all the time (Premo Mom). one is no better than the other. both get stares equally, both equally get talked about and both equally are unhealthy.

You must be joking. Overweight people are the ones who have to deal with horrible stares and comments all the time. Skinny people blend into society, overweight people are noticed more.

I agree with you! I have been both and am treated far worse when I'm underweight than when I was overweight. Fat people don't get it. It's poitically incorrect to even say "fat," yet a thin person has to deal with people calling her anorexic, bony, gross, etc.
