My cat seems to have a stomach bug. He has vomited a couple of times and does not have much energy. I am planning to take him to the vet if his condition does not get any better but I was just wondering if anyone knows what this could be. He is eating fine but he seems a bit depressed. There has been no blood in his urine or his vomit. Pleae state references if you have any. Thanks a lot!

Hi Lucy...cats can suffer bouts of stomach distress from either parasites, sudden change in food, being served dairy, hairballs...essentially a variety of reasons. Having your cat evaluated would be the best solution since it is quite difficult to speculate through the Internet the likely cause of why your cat isn't feeling well. Hopefully, it is something easily treated and your cat recovers soon.

Yes, cats can suffer from stomach bugs. Their stomachs are very sensitive, and many things can cause them to get sick. The best thing to do is take your cat to the vet, especially since there are so many diseases going around right now. I know in Indiana feline Panleukopenia (distemper) is really bad right now. My cat got sick and I was scared to death that he had Panleuk. Turns out he just had the equivalent of the stomach flu. The vet gave him an antibiotic and he's fine. Hope this helps!

He could have something wrong with him if he seems sluggish. You should go ahead call the vet to make the appt. This could be a number of things and not just a bug.

Keep an eye on him, make sure he is drinking plenty of water, since he is vomiting.
