greys can quite easily jump a 4ft fence but are usually too lazy too do so..our fence is only 5ft something but my grey doesnt bother to investigate the height.shes usualy asleep lol..u r makng a splendid choice with a grey contrary to belief they dont need much excersise and should never b let off the lead for a free run due to there chasing instinct,my grey has been with us since oct 06 and has only had one good run off the lead coz i took her to the track she came from she done 2 laps and that was enough for her

Males tend to do much less jumping than females, but a 4 foot fence is definitely not safe. If you could manage to make it 5 feet, that would be safe for at least 98% of them. DO NOT put up anything electrified to try to keep in a greyhound - no rescue group would allow you to adopt a greyhound if you had an electrified fence, anyway.

Speak to the rescue about it and they should be able to advise.

For information: My ex-racing greyhound was off leash when he caught sight of a cat in my mother's garden. The cat jumped over a 6ft fence and my dog very nearly managed to get over it, too.

If you could get a 6ft+ fence it would be much better. Speak to your neighbours before putting up the fence though, as they would have to share the fence with you.

If you are using a reputable greyhound rescue organization, they will go through everything with you. They require atleast a 6 foot fence and do home inspections.

Also keep in mind that unless you are in a fenced in area, it is not recommended to take them off leash. These are site hounds that will take-off and chase something, returning at their leisure. Other than that, they make great pets- but be careful if you have cats.

If you're still striving to increase you're straight and you're looking to get your hands over the rim, put Vert Shock to the check, an application you will think it is here https://tr.im/bIYUo  and provide it a take to, you'll be amazed of how quickly you may become a beast hopper in the event that you prepare the proper way.
This system won't make you leap tens and thousands of situations because Vert Shock was produced and used by genuine elite stage basketball players.
When it comes right down to it, if you really want to leap higher, you merely found the most effective system on the planet to accomplish so. Any other way would simply be described as a spend of time.

I have two greys. It depends on their prey drive. Yes, they are capable of clearing a 4 foot fence, but do they have a strong enough motivation to go get that rabbit or squirrel outside the yard? I don't have a fence so mine are always kept on leash. Most rescues have been screened and you can get a feel for their personalities, especially if they have been in a foster home.

chances are if you are adopting one it will be xtrack dog, that being the case it wont jump your fence even if you coax it over,iv been running working dogs for 30 years and never come across a straight greyhound that wanted to jump.different kettle of fish if its a cross though,if its a lurcher(creyhound xcollie etc)it will clear 4ft without thinking about it.be wary if your neighbour has any cats though , the greyhound will nack them on piece work.apart from that they make fantastic pet dogs and bond with anyone iv had quite a few over years.

Sure they can.

In fact, the record holder for dog high jump is a rescued greyhound. She has tied her own record at the Purina Good Will Games and they must now build a taller jump if they ever want to see if she can set a new record.

some greyhounds are jumpers but i have two greyhounds that dont jump and ive also got a 4ft fence. If you are getting it from a greyhound rescue centre then they will do a home visit and they will be able to answer all your queries.Greyhounds make great pets but beware they also take the sofa and your bed off you.

It all depends on the dog, rather than the breed. Greyhounds are actually pretty relaxed dogs at home (so long as you allow them to run off their energy each day), so I shouldn't imagine a 4ft fence would be a problem.

My dog recognises the end of the garden/start of pavement as it's boundary when visiting friends etc, so teaching a dog (even an older one) that a 4ft fence is it's boundary should be simple enough.
