The best exercise for people who are overweight and have bad knees is actually water walking.

You wear a floatation device around the waist and sort of jog or walk in the deep end of the pool back and forth, without ever touch the bottom. It offers the resistence of water, without the demand of swimming. You can use the outer lanes of pools where most swimming facilities reserve them for beginner swimmer or water walking. This is the most overlooked form of exercise for weight loss program.

This form of exercise burns a lot of calorie without straining your joints. It is used by a lot of athletics for rehabilitation or endurance training.

You are actually better off not using the tread mill, do this kind of excercise instead. Start with sessions of 20 minutes long and build up from there. Just remeber, the longer you exercise, the most calorie you burn. Good luck.

Not an easy task to drop that much but it can be done.
Being that you are loosing such a large amount, you have to do it carefully so as to not overtax your heart. Also your knees do not help the situation, but being overweight often puts excess stress on the knee joints so as you loose you shoudl find that your knees will get better.
First off, dieting is the main thing you need to do to help burn away the weight. I would suggest the cabbage soup diet. It will help you to burn away the weight, and it will help to cleanse your system. If you are serious then this is the diet.
For the first three to four weeks you eat nothing but cabbage soup for breakfast lunch and dinner. No snacks, no treats, nothing like that. You can eat all the cabbage you want. Basically it is a head of cabbage, boiled in water, with a tea spoon of salt. By week four you can add some other vegetables to the soup such as squash, peas, carrots, corn. For weeks four through seven that is what you eat, that specific soup. Around week seven you can add lean cuts of beef or chicken to the soup. Even potatos at this time. Then you eat that for weeks eight through eleven. By the beginning of week twelve you should have shed close to or more then 100 pounds.
Yuo can have all the water you want to drink as well but cut out all sodas and sports drinks. Juice is okay once in a while but it too has a lot of sugar. Also a daily multi vitamin will help to make sure you are keeping all the minerlas and nutrients in your body.
As for the exercise, very light weight work outs, I woud say five or ten pounds of weight and for your walking I would keep it at 2mph or maybe 3mph, but increase it to two half hour periods a day and make sure you rest completely one day a week with no exercise.
You have a tough road ahead but you can do it if you are determined. I know this diet works, I had a heart attack at the age of 21 and was put on this diet for a year to loose weight, flush out the cholesterol and fat in my body, and cleanse my system. It will give you some stomach problems and diarrhea at first but that goes away as your body becomes healthy. Being that I have asthma exercise was not always a viable option. It only works if you are serious about it.

I advise you to keep on doing what your doing. You seem like your doing a fantastic job so far! In your place, I would do activities that don't involve my legs (Because of your bad knee). Here's a few things that should help you get where you want to be.

- Lift small weights, usually 2-4 lbs.

- Walk, run, or jog on the tread-mill for around 20-45 minutes daily, you could do this while watching T.V.

- Eat healthy, more vegitables, more protein, and a little more fruit. (Try to stay away from 'fast food' it won't do anyone any good.

- Keep up the good work, and I know you'll succeed.

Yes, increase your walking. Try going 5 minutes longer every day until you work up to and hour, then you can start increasing your speed. You should also find a pool you can go to. That is great exercise that won't hurt your knees.

You might want to consider Weight Watchers. Their program is really good, you won't feel starved, you'll get great support from other people who are going through the same thing you are. And you don't have to buy any food like you do in other weight loss programs like Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem.

try using 5 lbs weights and work your arms, walk everywhere that you go, and keep yourself motivated. Don't have unrealistic goals, I think that you are doing a great job and keep up the good work. . I lost 70 lbs about 4 years ago. I would wake up at 5 am and do a serires of exercises in my home and I ate chicken and salad for 6 months and drank lots of water. I had a goal of 10 pounds a month and it worked. You will start to lose weight, don't give up, it might be slow at first, but it will come off.

Keep up the exercise and watching what you eat. You will gradually need to lower the amount of food you eat and increase the workout. Listen to your body. Don't give in to cravings. If you start to feel hungry, either snack on some fruit or veggies, or drink a tall glass of water. A great exercise to do with bad knees is aqua aerobics during the summer. Check with your locals swimming pools to see if they offer the class. It's fun and easy on the knees. Good luck!

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

good for you for wanting to lose weight!!! i understand that bad knees makes it hard for you to get more active but try joining a gym with a friend or start walking with a group of friends or someone close. but dont do anything alone because motivation is important! dont push yourself too hard at first, losing weight takes time but what you are doing is great! I also heard that you shouldnt check how much you are losing on a scale everyday. this doesnt give an accurate answer everytime plus noticing how your close fit bigger is better then weihging because muscle weighs more than fat so if your gaining muscle you may mistake it for fat. way to go and good luck!

at 330 pounds I would just stop eating anything with sugar in it at all. Just eat raw vegs and fruit. Eat 6 times a day and stop 3 hours before bed. No late night stacks. Once you get down about 50 pounds it will be much easyer to exercise and you still start building muscle. More of it you have more fat you will burn.
