you may never be able to fully move on.. just the same as if it was was a human being family member.. you never can fully move on..
and eventually it may not hurt as bad..

but as long as you remember her and love her she'll always be with you..

i understand your problem i still miss my puppy.. and think about him often (he was hit by a car a few months after we got him)

The only "cure" is to obtain another dog. You won't get a replica of the girl you lost, but another totally different friend that will help you to get over the deep hurt I know you are experiencing. I had to have a Std Poodle put down on Dec 4th - She would have been 14 in May - she was the greatest animal I have ever known, & I understand how heartbreaking it is for you. God bless!

I know how you feel, I lost my boy last year. Luckily for me, we have two other dogs, which makes it easier, not so much time to sit and think, even though the other two dogs are my husband's and son's and the one I lost was my boy. We had a special bond and I'll always miss him. I would suggest getting another dog, you've had plenty of time now. Just remember, the new dog won't be like your old dog, they're all different with different, but you'll love your new dog for its own unique personality. I would suggest getting a dog that doesn't look like your old one though, if they look alike, you'll end up subconsciously comparing them, and that's not fair to your new dog.

hmm.. i wish i could answer this for you... i had this one dog for 9 years.. and when he was hit by a car 3 years ago i thought i was gonna die.. and now 3 years later.. whenever im in a sad mood i think about this dog and i get wicked upset because i want him to still be here. i used to promise him every day that i would never let anything happen to him and then one day... he got lose and got hit by a car.... it may be that you might nver get over it.. i know i prolly wont ever get over. even now that i have a new dog.. ya know over time it starts to fade.. you dont think about quite as much but in my opinion on what yopur saying and from personal experience you probably wont ever completely get over it.. sorry to be blunt about it.. :/

i'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend! when i've lost pets in the past it is still a sore spot, but i haven't ever really moved on till i found new friend. i've never searched for a new friend, but when they come along, i love them and they seem to make the hurt go away.

take up a new activity that keeps your mind on the go the whole time. I know this sounds crazy but you could always try to see a psychiatrist
