A book was written entitled, The Bondage of Self By Kirsten Helene Kaiser. This refers to being bound to one's image of self, rather than spiritually identifying with soul and spirit.

it could mean a number of things, 1 bound to your self, 2 like bondage of the self through mental and physical pain, 3 you care around your own chains mentally of what u beleive.

I don't know. Maybe the bondage we place ourselves under when we refuse to consider other opinions. Maybe when we set our sights on a certain goal and won't give it up no matter what.
