My friend, 1 deer= 1, 2 = 2 deer, 3= 3 deer. More could be 2 or 3 deer. 5 might be 4 or 5 or 5 or 6. A herd then would be a bunch that hang together. How many bees in a hive? Birds in a flock? Quail in a covey.? A bunch could be a herd or if I went hunting and saw 1 or 2 and the later 4 0r 5 still later 5 or 6. When I get back to camp I would say I saw a bunch of deer so a herd is a bunch all together. How many bananas in a bunch?

I don't know what you would call a "hole" bunch of deer, but a whole bunch of deer is called a herd.

I respectfully suggest you concentrate more on spelling and grammar rather than animal trivia.
Knowing a herd from a flock might win you a Trivia game or two, but literacy will serve you better in the real world.

Is the quantum physicist cute? I'd call him. At least I would have something to do whilst I waited for the black hole to devour earth.
