Cutting is a serious issue that needs to be taken care of by a professional counselor. If your parents won't bring you to a counselor, you do have the right to go to your guidance counselor and speak with them about it. Being that you are disclosing this issue, you have the right to tell the guidance counselor that you want this kept confidential from your parents and they will have to keep it confidential unless there is clear reason to believe that you are seriously going to hurt yourself or someone else. Personally, I would let your parents know that you are going to talk to your guidance counselor and explani to them the compulsion to cut, talk to them and let them know you do not know why you are doing this, but for some reason you are driven to cut.
Only you truely know what is going on, wether it is for feeling something, or to make some pain stop, you clearly want to stop this behavior and have begun to take the steps toward healing.
Don't let it go.

In most areas there are help lines for teens that you can call and they can direct you where to go for help. Like the other girl said though if you can't open up to the person, then it won't help. I don't know anything about cutting. like why people do it, but maybe just talking to another person can help you. I wish you luck in getting the help you need though and hope that whatever is causing you to hurt yourself is resolved. AS for your parents, maybe they don't really believe you are doing this to yourself or it's an attention thing. But you need to do your best to make them see you have a real problem, so if you get into counseling you should tell them. Part of your issues may be with them. Good Luck.

I'm wondering if you've gone to a counselor before... bc, cutters, like myself, (not all, just most) dont do too well in therapy. i've had 3, a few years ago, in hs. and it didnt work out. i went in wanting to get help, but i couldnt open up w/ any of them. in fact, i hated going to therapy so much, that i stopped cutting so that i could get out of it and not go back. but really, you shouldnt need an adult to make an apointment. idk how old you are, or anything, but i don't think anyplace would turn you away. especially since ppl are stupid and they think cutters are tryin to kill themselves or something. (though in some cases it is, but most its just a coping mechanism).

Sure you can go to your guidance counsellor, without informing them or asking their permission. Since they won't help you, you need to get the best help you can for that. your guidance counsellor might not be the right person to help you.
Go to this Website and follow some of the links giving advice. I hope they can eventually refer you to a counsellor in your area who is part of a community-based program that will sponsor your help for free.

Talk to your parents, I don't believe they won't take you, I think you just don't want to tell them. But they will do their best to help, that's why parents are there. Or talk to your teacher at school or make an appointment for counselling yourself, the counsellor will tell you how to go on.

wow...
i really feel for you!!!....
my cousin use to cut herself.
but once her parents found out that ended.
she wasnt really addicted but everytime she got upset she would start her cutting stage.
i was sooo scared cause we are sooo close.
she was talking about cutting her wrist, her face..ect.
everyone know if u cut ur wrist u could bleed to death...so thats a really dangerous spot.
but anyways....
i would say just go ahead and talk to a counsler at school or something.
or talk to someone that cares.
mmmkk?!

Why won't your parents help you? Do they know what you are doing to yourself and what was their response?

If you are cutting and can't get help from your parents, then go to the closest emergency room. They will get you help right away.

Speak with your school counselor if you attend school and are not homeschooled. they can get you the assistance that you need.

If you can not or don't want to speak with a counselor at school, then reach out to another trusted adult.

They can help you with your problem.

Good luck!!!
