the short answer is: yes - we are currently planning on staying there forever.

but this should come as no surprise.

in nearly all of the wars the usa has been involved in since WWII, where our troops land, they stay.

we still have forces in italy, germany, england and france among many many other places such as south korea.

all vietnam ever really got out of beating the usa in it's war, was that our troops had to leave when it was over - because the nation was pretty much shot and it could hardly be called a victory...
