Probably MBNA, who was recently bought by Bank or America. They were the largest issuer of credit cards for a long time, and Capital One is probably a distant second.
There are other companies as well that compete, such as American Express, VISA, Mastercard, etc.

Hopefully everyone soon... I have had nothing but problems with capital one and their services in many different areas.
They are in need in need of a major overhaul in customer service. One horrible company I and many others will keep telling other people to stay away from !!!

There is no competition. Capital One has the best products on the market.
