I'm also 5'7" and weighed that in high school. First of all, 145 isn't overweight for that height (in fact, everyone was always telling me how thin I was), so don't stress out. 125 is at the low end of your healthy weight spectrum, but still within the non-underweight spectrum (which is important, because I've crossed that line, and it didn't feel good, believe me!). I've lost 20 pounds: I did that when I started college. What I did was stop drinking soft drinks altogether, which are (even the diet ones) packed with calories. I also started exercising about twice a week, doing about 45 minutes of cardio in my college gym and walking more (to classes, across campus, etc.). I ate less junk food (avoid those vending machines!) and drank more water and less juice (also packed with calories). What to avoid like the plague: smoothies and shakes. They're packed with hundreds of calories and won't fill you up.
Basically, don't crash diet. Just start doing some cardio (weight machines are good, too, if you want to tone up) and reduce your soda/junk food intake. Getting a work-out buddy can help you stay commited to going to the gym regularly. Avoid fast food--cut it out as much as possible. Don't eliminate anything completely, because you'll start craving it more than ever and will tend to binge. Just eat when you're hungry and stop when you're not! Breaking meals up into several smaller snacks/meals throughout the day may help (or not--it's just whatever works best for you). Be patient, because weight naturally fluctuates. Losing one pound a week is a good pace--more than 3 pounds is too much and will send your body on "hunger strike," where your metabolism slows down and your body holds onto every calorie it can get. Exercising, on the other hand, will boost your metabolism, so be sure to make that part of your diet. Also, focus more on how your clothes fit and your body looks than on the scale: water weight and muscle can make the number you see heavier and discourage you, which never helps a diet!
Good luck, and I hope some of those tips help! :)

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

Suggestion: check with your doctor first before dieting...your weight is NOT that bad for your height and losing 20 lbs may be too much depending on your bone structure, BMI etc.

Try low carb, not more than 60 gm per day. It will be a little hard at first but the hunger should go away after the 2nd day. Drink plenty of water.

You are not overweight, but a 20 pound loss probably won't hurt you. Cut your calorie intake to 1200 in a day and increase your exercise, like walk thirty minutes a day without pause.

first, you should eat a lot of fruits then you must eat at least 5 times a day but never get bellyful. it is not all about the diet is about exercises also. you must work out a lot. maybe you should calculate how many calories you it in a day and reduce it day by day! when you eat you mustn't eat fat. ex: eat a apple and after one hour a glass of milk or something. reduce also the bread!!! good luck! and if any of our answers helped you tell us!

You are not bad for your height...however if you want to shed a few lbs- i can help:)
simply cut back. smaller portions- no seconds. even out your carb intake. if you eat after 8pm, eat chicken and veggies. they are easy for your stomach to digest. keep away from late night carbs.
