Quite a lot of things are listed as sins in the OT of the bible, yet the majority of them have been declared as "No longer applicable" for one reason or another. Is God okay with this? Does he give us the right to declare other things as no longer applicable? Are we each held accountable individually for the things we consider sins and not?

No! Man has taken upon them selves to declare what is sin and what is not sin. We sin daily not even knowing we sin. The Bible is clear on who shall not enter the gates of heaven. All sin is found in one passage... Roman 1:26-30 If you fit in any of these you are sinning. That's where many Christians fail to see them selves.

I'm a Christian, I sin daily, sins I know are sins and sins I don't know are sins. Does this make me less of a Christian? No, but I'm thankful to God that He has granted mercy and grace upon my soul. I'm thankful it is NOT man who will judge me but the Father in heaven only.

I don't know if eating pork is a sin or not but I do know that God knowing this earth better than we know it has a reason for why He told them to not eat of any unclean animal. His reasons whether I understand them or not doesn't make it any less of a sin. For example if you command to a child not to go on the street, you r reason is that the child could be hit by a vehicle and die. But the child doesn't know and/or doesn't care and does it anyway. Even though he might not have been killed he still disobeyed you, the parent. We are told in the new testament that we are no longer bound to the law of the old testament. If we simply obey Jesus command to love one another and love God by putting Him first then the Holy Spirit will guide us and direct us as to what is sin. All people are born with a conscience that lets us know what sin is, but when the Spirit of God is in us He is God's conscience.

I think that God is clear about what is sinful and what is not. In the OT He gives us the 10 commandments. In the NT, Jesus tells us to love God and love our fellow man. While that may not tell you exactly what the sins may be. It does tell you that anything that would offend God or harm another person would be sinful. That is why we need a Savior, sin is difficult to always avoid and only Christ can set us free from its power. God Bless.

No, he is the ultimate standard. And, he knows what is best for us, and brings lasting happiness. If you look the world over, even in the most distant lands, there are things that people inherently know are wrong, they never have to be taught. Why do we know this, because of peoples reactions to when a wrong has been done to them. Depending on how bad it is, it is even worse. Say, the child of a leader of a tribe was stolen and murdered by a rival tribe, you don't have to teach people that they want vengeance, right or wrong, but they KNOW it is wrong, etc. How about, if you are selling something in the marketplace, but someone takes it without paying, the whole world knows its wrong. There IS a moral code, and there is a moral law giver. Times have changed since the old tesatament, yes, but if you are really in doubt, ask God himself, and the holy spirit will let you know in your own spirit. One that will always obviously be wrong, and has nothing to do with race, is homosexuality, for instance.

The "no longer applicable" things are things that (Christians believe) God changed Himself. Not a man's idea. For example, we can believe there are no dietary laws now, and be able to show scripture where God and the Apostles said this themselves. However we cannot say that God changed fornication to be OK now, because there is no scripture to support it.

It would be just like if a scientist would say that drinking water is unhealthy. It wouldnt be accepted unless there was something to back that idea up. Some may still reject the idea, but the scientist that has studied this, has good reason to believe it to be true.

The sins of the old testament are still sins (going against Gods will). Jesus said to fulfill the law, we need to love God with all our being and to love others as ourselves. We aren't of the letter of the law, but under the Grace of God.

The difference is that Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins in new testament. We have all sinned somewhere, so Jesus paid the price for our redemption. We just need to confess Jesus Christ Lord and believe in our heart in the resurrection.

The only sin the Holy Spirit convicts the World of is not believing in Jesus Christ. Because God provided a way for our salvation.

After one is born again, person is restored in relationship with God. Can pray anywhere or time, 24/7 to God, because of the spiritual connection (Holy Spirit).

As children of God, we are children of the King and inherit the Kingdom. We are made the righteousness of Christ. Nothing we do or don't do can change that.

But, it is impossible to abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy seed within.

If we sin, we need to confess our sin, and God is faithful & just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

What gets us into heaven is being born again. But, Jesus rewards us when we do things of His Word and root in Faith, Hope & Love. This is everlasting rewards. When a person just builds perishable things on Christ foundation, when tested by fire, the perishable fries. So if die & go to heaven and not much everlasting is built on the house, not much reward from the Lord. But person is still saved.

Also, what is sin to one person, isn't sin to another. So, it is between God and the person. When person builds up own rules to follow and judges others for not doing them, it is self righteousness and not Christ righteousness.

The 10 commandments are still aplicable today. So that is one way to measure what is a sin or not. Also in both the old and new testement are many references as to what is considered a sin or not. There is no guesses to this. It is all written clearly in the Bible.

NO! Sin is ANYTHING that seperates us from God. God gave us rules and they are still binding today!
Matthew 5:17-19 Jesus, Himself, says that not a jot or tittle shall pass from the law and we should be teaching others to obey it too. Know what a tittle is? I have four versions of the Bible here. I like the way this one puts it. (Amplified) know another language, Spanish? Know those little marks they put above their n’s that little enyay thing. It’s a little curvy line. That’s what Jesus is talking about here. He says, not even the smallest little line of the law is getting changed. The law isn’t changed.

God reserves the right to establish the rules and the exception of the rules. He doesn't change His mind because He is not subject to make mistakes nor misinterpretations. He is perfect. Some rules are applicable according to time, place and circumstance, but they were meant to be that way from the very beginning.

No, the Bible is what tells is which things are right and wrong. It is the only access to the mind of God we have as human beings and should be obeyed as such (II Timothy 3:16).
