I'm a UK passport holder, I understand I don't need a visa for Thailand, but want to know whether there are restrictions on my crossing into Cambodia. Also where is good to go to - I have limited time and budget!

You can, if you wish, arrange your visa when you are in Thailand but actually these is no need to do it in advance as you (as a UK passport holder) can get a 30 day tourist visa at the border (or at the airport if you come in by air). The cost at the border is Baht 1,000 (about GBP14.40 at today's rate). You'll also need a passport size photograph for the visa application - I would recommend bringing a few passport size photos when travelling in Asia - you never know when you'll need them. If you go to Angkor (Siem Riep) be aware that you have a choice of paying by the day or buying a multi-day pass. When I went I just bought a day ticket, really, I wish I'd bought a ticket for longer. In Phnom Penh there are plenty of things to see including firing Russian weapons from the cold war era if that is really what you want to do (I'm not sure how safe it is though and so don't recommend it). There are also some more relaxed tours to take including The Killing Fields and other remnants from the post-Vietnam war era. You can also take a look at the Grand Palace which is quite similar in style to the one in Bangkok (although the one in Bangkok is in better condition).

You are quite correct about the Thailand visa, in your case I don't think you need a visa for Thailand as, with your passort, you will fall within the Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme and will get a stamp allowing you to remain in Thailand for 30 days from the date of entry for tourism purposes.

If you are on a budget, the best way to go to Cambodia from Bangkok is by bus - only takes a short time (air-coned bus) and it is cheap + the people in the bus will do the visa for Cambodia for you. I think it is incl. in the price of the bus ticket. The only down side is that the bus leaves at 6am. Enjoy

Hi, you can get a visa when in Thailand to cross over to Cambodia. In fact many tour agencies in Thailand do lead tours into Cambodia, and the most popular visit is to the Ankor Wat. This ancient monument is reported deteriorating and will not last long. So will be good to pay a visit before it is gone forever.

You can email me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com if you like to get more info. Can help withyour itinerary plan too. Have a good holiday.
