I think its completely shallow of people not to date someone simply because they do not drive. Not everyone is this world is privileged enough to be able to afford a car. Cars are expensive: Gas, maintenance, insurance, etc. So its okay if us girls don't drive, but the moment a guy doesn't or can't he's a scrub?! Enough with the double standards! If public transportation is available and if you're in a big city, more than likely getting around in a car can be a pain. So if you like the guy, then go for it. But if the fact that he doesn't drive is what holds you back from a relationship, you don't deserve him.

Absolutely. If he is out of luck and cannot afford a car right now, but everything else is okay I wouldnt cut him off. As long as he is working towards getting a car, I'd accept that- or maybe he doesnt mind public transportaion. I know several people who dont mind it and it can actually be a $$ saver for some. I have been in a position where I had to take cabs, and buses EVERYWHERE I went, and I'm still the same person taday with my own transportation as I was when I did not have personal transportation. I think its shallow to let something like that decide whether or not to deal with someone.

My bf is blind and can't drive obviously so yes.
I also do not drive I didn't learn when I was like 15-16 so it kinda scares me but I am learning now (at 21)
Here public transportation is widely available and there are many reasons why some people don't drive so if you answered no to this question you really don't like the guy all that much or you didn't give him enough of a chance to get to know him.

TLC said it well...
I don't want no scrubs
a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me
hangin out the passenger side of his best friend's ride...
he should either have his own car, or at least a license (if you live in a town where there is widely used public transport)

Its not a neccessity then if public transportation is available, just make sure he got a good paying job & just don't have the time to learn how to drive!

My grandpa never drove and my grandma had no problem with it. My father also doesn't drive but he has his own driver so it works out fine for him. I drive but hate driving.
What I'm trying to tell is that that if the fellow doesn't drive means he can afford to not drive and that may be a plus point. Besides you are only dating the guy not marring.

If he doesn't need to drive whats the big deal? What if he couldn't drive because his eyes where too bad to get a licence would you like him less for something he can't control? We are talking about something that shouldn't matter in the big picture. If he can't afford to drive because he doesn't have a job dump him but if it's just because it doesn't make sence to drive where you live then get over it.

I did and it was a pain in the bum. Make matters worse his parents drove us around. Ugh! A bus might have been preferable, but still public transportation! c'mon! that just totally kills any romance on a date.

To be honest, no, I wouldn't. Driving is essential, it's a part of growing up. I would feel way to uncomfortable dating a man who didn't drive.
