Muscle doesn't COVER up fat. Muscle helps you to burn the fat you have. Yes, you can continue to lift, but don't forget you need to do cardio, too. That is what gets the muscle to help burn off that fat.

In fitness there are always two types of concerns; Muscle and Fat,
First; muscle is made up of course fibers and the cells are full of protein and amino acids, once you grow muscle on your body it stays forever, and that's where the term "muscle has memory" comes from, however, if you don't use it your cells will empty out and decrease in size making you look like your muscle is gone, but it's not. If you work it , low and behold it's back! Now, to build NEW muscle you must tear the old and it will heal in time and build a new layer making it appear larger.
Finally fat, you can not turn fat in to muscle or muscle in to fat, they are two different types of cells. Fat cells are full of sugar and water and their glucose is nothing more then stored energy. Once a fat cell is grown on your body it can not be removed, except during an operation , but it can be shrunk and to do that you work out and limit your diet to half your normal consumption. The fat cell will shrink and stay there (deflated) forever that is why it's so easy to go right back to being as fat as you were, it's there waiting to re-fill the fat cell with sugars and water. Your body will grow fat if you eat more then you use per day. Your body wants to burn up the energy stored in the muscle cells first because muscle uses too much energy to maintain on your body then fat does, so it's a constant fight.
Now, the more muscle you grow on you, the more energy you will burn and yes it will tap into your fat reserves if you eat many small meals a day and drink plenty of water and combine cardio with weight training (one day weights, next day cardio) it works for me. Hope this info helped.

It takes a little while of serious training for you to buff up, but take heart, it sounds like you are on the right track. If you want to creat huge muscles, then all you do is lift continuously. It will cause your muscles to grow and expand on their own as they get use to the weight. If you want to slim down while atthe same time creating good muscular tone, you are going to want to incorporate rigorous cardio exercise into your routine two to three days a week. This will also burn away the fat.
Also, make sure you are eating right, healthy, and staying away from junk foods, sodas, candy, and crap like that. Fast food is also a killer when it comes to this. Once in a while, RARELY, it is okay, but once a week is killer.
Good luck and let us know how it is going!

As you work out and gain muscle, the muscle will start to swap places with the fat (and actually burn the fat away). If you are eating more cause your hungry after a work out, while that is natural, it is your chance to pick out the right foods to eat. Veges and fruit(raw) over a big Mac. The fruit will fill up your gut craving and dissappear faster than the fat and sugars and other things in a burger. How long? Depends on your work out and your eat out scheduling. It is a trade off thing.

muscle weighs more than fat, but it doesn't cover it up. As you build muscle tissue, you burn fat. Lifting is good, but don't disregard diet. You have to eat healthy or you keep the fat along with the muscle and you just get bigger. To be buff requires a good nutritional base and exercise.
