...why can't anyone on here spell or ask grammatically correct questions? Am I the only person who has noticed this? Is it indicative of the state of our education systems and a general decline in correct use of the english language??
It annoys the f**k out of me!

Dolly. I never said I was politically correct. In fact I'm far from it.
Becky. Yes, apart from the 2 question marks (for effect) and the lower case 'e' for which I have already apologised.

I agree totally!!! What is the point of skimming down on words? It probably takes just as long to type it out correctly than to try and find a shorter alternative which might lose two or three characters - and lose half the meaning too?
What's the point of getting wrong anyway? Why not just get it right? It's not as if you're any "cooler" if you've given up on grammer & punctuation?? As for the state of the education systems - well there's another whole book to write!
wot u fink?
Go on! Bring back proper ENGLISH!

I think we are facing an evolution of English into anything that resembles the original English word.
The most writing your average youngster does these days is on a mobile phone, so abreviating everything (and missing out on punctuation) is essential for keeping the speed up and the phone bills down. Whenever faced with a keyboard many people now opt for text speak (or leet speak) to either make it hard for those who don't understand, or just to save time.

Not a bit of good to let it worry you old chap. It is the way of the world these days, short cuts to a hectic life style.
Look at it this way, at least people are communicating with each other and in most cases we are able to understand each other.
Understanding is the thing that all people in this world need right now. So let's not be too critical or pedantic of other peoples mistakes in writing.
The more we communicate the less likely we will find ourselves at war with one another.

If you take a look at my questions and answers I too have written incorrectly, but I just really don't care because I type fast and never check my grammar. Just as long as you understand where I'm getting at is all that matters, but if I was writing a business letter or a speech or reeport than I would do it right.

Well for one who it annoys the f**k out of, you have used two question marks to ask a question when only one is needed, but seriously, i know what you mean. Its the way it is going. Texting and emailing is ruining our written language. Kids now hand in essays which are full of text abbreviations, it drives me mad!

Keep in mind that people are typing in on a web site not a word processor, so sometimes keystrokes aren't registered. Aside from that, people are lazy and unfortunately not the best at grammar. It's a sad state of affairs.

Yes it annoys me too, but that's my problem not theirs!
I think the way people type is not for us to judge!
There is a REAL person behind the typed words and if you were speaking to them face-to-face, would you be concerned about grammar and punctuation? Probably not, because quite frankly it's irrelevant!

I have noticed what you are talking about. It is my belief that it has more to do with people being in to much of a hurry. Rather than the learning processes of the school systems.

Well,I have my excuse:English is not my mother-tongue... :) But when I was in CA (in high school),one of my classmates asked me what was written on the paper in front of us... He was a sophomore,so I was like "are you kidding??you can't read??!". He said he just forgot... Now that's a shame. Could not happen in my country,so there might be something wrong in education...
