The regular 7 layer salad is gross..iceburg lettuce and sugary mayo, no thanx!
Everyone loves this dish, i bring it to many potluck parties and it is always requested.
Sounds wierd but it is sooo good!
This is my updated versions of a layer salad..try it out!

Chopped iceberg lettuce
chopped scallions
chopped tomatoes
1 can "heinz vegetarian baked beans" (must be this brand)
shredded cheddar cheese
crunched up doritos
catalina dressing

layer the salad in this order, i promise you will crave this at least once a week!

Why don't you try a pork loin? marinate the loin in asian spices and soy sauce. (try chinese 5 spice, some red chili flakes, garlic) then bake it at 350 until done. Throw some small or cut up carrots, potatoes and onions in with the loin(but toss in marinade before) and bake along with it.

Try this variation on plain pork chops...this is the easiest barbecue recipe ever:
Mix together:
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (usually 18 oz bottle - any flavor, any brand)
1 cup orange juice.

Place about 3 lbs. of pork chops (or any other meat- works really well with chicken thighs as well) in a 9x13 pan and pour the sauce and juice mixture over it. Cover with foil and bake on 325 for 2-3 hours or until done (depending on the type of meat, it may not take as long). When the meat is cooked, remove the foil, increase the heat to 350-375 and bake it for another 30 minutes being careful to baste the meat with the sauce. The sauce with thicken in the last 30 minutes and will nicely glaze your meat. It is yummy!

7 layer dip is usually pretty easy.
Refried beans
taco meat
guacamole
sour cream
shredded cheddar cheese
diced onions
diced tomatoes

Pork Loin is always good, and relatively easy. You can even get them pre-seasoned. My Dad cooks his on the grill. Mom cooks hers in the oven.
I like to get the butterfly boneless chops and marinate them in Italian dressing then grill them.
Also pork ribs are yummy on the grill, or even in the broiler.

Just remember the less fat on the meat the quicker it will dry out, so sometimes Dad will actually wrap the loin in bacon then when the bacon is burnt beyond recognition, he removes it and finishes cooking the loin. Just that little bit of protection helps it to not dry out as fast.

I have a 7 layer recipe for dip.

1. Mexican style beans
2. Guacamole
3. Sour cream
4. Chopped tomatoes
5. Chopped olives
6. Grated cheddar cheese
7. Chopped green/spring onions

I guess its kinda like a salad, you could use it as a guide and maybe change a couple of things.

pork chops.....I like to brown them and while hot in the pan, add cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup (previously mixed in a bowl with one can of water, no lumps that way). The brown bits on the bottom of the skillet will change the soup to gravy, it is so good....
