Some, definitely not all, tell non-believers they are going to hell so the feel better about themselves.

Well for starters... who are they to say you will never be in the Lamb's book of Life? I'm a Christian and I would NEVER tell another individual their name is not found. I'm not God, therefore I don't know who's name is written or erased.
Some Christians believe their lying is just a fib, they don't see it as a sin. Some twist it to justify their own way of life. Is that good to do, NO, but we are not their judge; only God will judge each individual accordingly.
You said you "can read the bible but someone comes along and make it sound wrong"; let the Holy Spirit show you what is written from what you read. Test the spirits of those that you are speaking about, it is your responsibility do that.
I don't listen to man, I listen to what the Spirit reveals to me through the Word of God (Bible).

Once saved always saved
Matt. 7:18 - Jesus says that sound trees bear good fruit. But there is no guarantee that a sound tree will stay sound. It could go rotten.
Matt. 7:21 - all those who say "Lord, Lord" on the last day will not be saved. They are judged by their evil deeds.
Matt. 12:30-32 - Jesus says that he who is not with Him is against Him, therefore (the Greek for "therefore" is "dia toutos" which means "through this") blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. This means that failing to persevere in Jesus' grace to the end is the unforgivable sin against the Spirit. We must persevere in faith to the end of our lives.
Matt. 22:14 - Jesus says many are called but few are chosen. This man, who was destined to grace, was at God's banquet, but was cast out.
Luke 8:13 - Jesus teaches that some people receive the word with joy, but they have no root, believe for a while, and then fall away in temptation. They had the faith but they lost it.
Luke 12:42-46 - we can start out as a faithful and wise steward, then fall away and be assigned to a place with the unfaithful.
Luke 15:11-32 – in the parable of the prodigal son, we learn that we can be genuine sons of the Father, then leave home and die, then return and be described as "alive again."
John 6:70-71 - Jesus chose or elected twelve, yet one of them, Judas, fell. Not all those predestined to grace persevere to the end.

The number of ways the Bible can be "twisted" is exemplified by the huge number of Christian sects, many of which regard all the others as "flase", "misled" or even "evil". The problem is that there is no one way to interpet the Bible...many sections of it are vague and highly subject to various interpetations. The characters in the stories are often so one-dimensional and poorly depicted that anyone can read nearly anything they want into them...from love and brotherhood to genocidal hatred.
You're better off jettisoning what other people tell you about it entirely.

I dont know if these twists of text are for peoples own good nessisarily but there are several things said all the time as though they were scriptural and are not:
"God helps those who help themselves"
"We are all God's Children"
"God loves unconditionally"
"Forgive yourself"
You cannot love someone until you love yourself"
"Loved ones who pass away become angels"
I am a Christian and read the Bible frequently, none of these ideas are Bible based yet many Christians say them as though they are.

There are no false things that christians say.
You are thinking in a very limiting way - as if YOU are the posessor of absolute wisdom and knowledge.
I would posit that we all are correct in what we believe - because we BELIEVE it. A christian says no false things for their own good because they BELIEVE that Jesus is Lord and they Believe that they will be taken into heaven after their name is read from the book of life. This is a belief and therefore it is true to them.
But what about you? Your rationalism and anti-theism is a belief just as strongly and securely as any christian. I have been friends with and corresponded with a lot of atheists and most (not all) have a very egotistical and superior attitude - as if they know everything and anyone that has a religion or a belief system is deluded.
Doesn't that sound familiar? Doesn't that sound like what you accuse christians of being? This is projection - you see in others what you do not want to see in yourself - so you project this animosity towards people that are actually very much like you.

The homosexuality/witchcraft stuff is lies added in the KJV, just to keep Jamie-boy happy. They use the KJV to make it seem as though there is a "good reason" for their phobiae.
Also, Jesus once said, "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter Heaven." Wealthy people say that they can get into Heaven because they don't WORSHIP their money, just Jesus. That's a very twisted excuse.

i dont know why you want to know but youll never see a lie without first seeing the truth. ask them to show you in the bible where it confirms what there saying or better yet read it yourself.
as for the lambs book of life you will be written there if you believe in Christ Jesus. that is the only qualification.

The one that drives me crazy is when they say that Christians aren't supposed to question what they're taught. It staggers me that people believe they can hold a spirituality without ever thinking deeply and having meaningful discussions about the philosophies and tenets of that spirituality. Blind acceptance is what allows religions to be taken over by selfish men who use the church to gain money and power for themselves.

whoever told you that you could'nt be saved WASN"T a Christian. Please don't group us all together. I will admit that there are those who distort in every religion even those of the Athiest faith. Read the Bible for yourself and let God speak to you and give you understanding

because for one the bible teaches us different things for what is going on in our lives as individuals for instance what might be going on in your life at any given time might be exlpained in say john 3;16 and a hole different issue in my life
may refer to the same script john 3;16 and also be the answer for both situations, though they are totally different situations with nothing in common
