Are you truly sure that you want to quit smoking? Because if you really want to quit, then you will find ways of actually quitting.

If you do decide to quit smoking, then prepare for the day when you do quit smoking. That day can be a specific date or a certain point in time like having a last pack and quitting when you run out of cigarettes.

Also, let your friends know that you are going to quit smoking and ask for their support. It also helps hearing the stories of people who have successfully quit smoking… hearing them allows you to believe that it is actually possible.

After you quit, avoid hanging out with smokers.

This worked for me and it has been 2 months since my last cigarette after being a smoker for 7-8 years.

Good luck!

I was finally able to quit smoking and I smoked a pack a day (if I drank, it was more like 2 packs) for 20 years! If I can quit, anyone can. What I did was I picked a date to not ever smoke again, 2 months into the future. Then I consistently cut down. Example: smoke a pack the lst day, 1 less for the next day or two, one less than that, etc until I got to about 3 or 4 a day the last week. Then I threw the last of them out on the goal day. No patch, not anything. I think it helped because I had the goal date set and cutting down gradually got me used to less nicotine. I am not saying I didn't crave them afterwards but I refused to give in cuz I knew it would just prolong the cravings. Chew alot of gum, drink alot of water, and don't try to diet during this time (but be mindful that you don't eat too much!). Baby carrots help. Keep your mouth and hands busy! And just remember how stinky they are and how bad your breath is from it!!! I have been smoke free now for almost 10 years. You can do it!

I stopped smoking 8 weeks ago when I had surgery. It was the easiest way for me. You;ve got to make up your mind that you are gonna to do it. WILL POWER !!! I don't have any that is why I;ve tried to quit so many times and failed. I feel so much matter and can smell things I've never smelled before. I still want to smoke though it's not easy for anyone remember that, but think about all the healthy stuff. It will get easier with time too the first 2 weeks are awful though. Hope this helped

Rumor has it that there is an out-of -country medical service that does a blood purification process (take blood like they do in the US for surgery & filter it) and reinfuse you with your own blood after it has been detoxed.
The only other way to detox any substance is to 'sweat' it out. Medical Makeover (the book) recommends getting off caffeine, excess sugar etc and detoxing from nicotine last as any mood swings sabotage the effort.
Even with those preparations, they still recommend checking into a motel for several days if you live with other people as detoxing makes people veryyyy cranky and difficult to be around.
Congratulations on your goal,
You have my prayers for your success

You will when you are ready and able. You will also require a more positive attitude than you have at present. I am an alcoholic but it far much easier for me to give up alcohol than it was for me to quit tobacco. It may take you several sincere attempts but eventually you can and will. Think positively rather than surrendering with an "I can't"! It took me many years and many attempts but I did on Oct.3,1995, the day a very stupid group of individuals set O.J. Simpson free for 2 murders that he himself commited!!! The anger inspired by that event was what it took for me to give up one dirty filthy habit! GOOD LUCK!

You want to smoke more than you don't want to smoke. You will quit as soon as this relationship reverses.

Can't means WON'T. Try some of the gum & patches to help you stop. I know it will be hard, but think of all the positive that will come from quitting.

I know how you feel. There are medications that really help. i am not one who could do it cold turkey, too much confusion and depression, to the point of being scarey. There are medications out that help your brain with impulse control and make it much easier. Talk to your Dr.
