You ask an excellent question. There are at least two reasons for this situation. First is the misunderstanding of many Christians that God's children aren't married in heaven. This comes from the scripture about the woman with seven brothers for husbands. He said that they neither marry or are given in marriage in heaven. That is because they are married in mortality. The marriage covenant was always intended to be eternal and it was to be accomplished while in mortality. The woman belonged to the first husband. All six of the brothers were only mortal substitutes to raise children to the name of their brother. Ultimately, in heaven she will belong to the first, to whom she was eternally betrothed.
That leads us to the second issue, authority to perform eternal marriages. God gave man the sealing powers through His prophets and deligated priesthood holders to administer the ordinances of His gospel. Those sealing powers were held by Elijah in the Old Testament. Christ gave them to Peter in the New Testament. Those powers were lost with the death of the apostles. In our time, Elijah did return, as promised, and gave those powers to Joseph Smith. Ever since then, the sealing powers have been exercised in the temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where couples can be married for time and for all eternity as God has always intended. These blessings are available to all who seek them and desire to be partakers thereof.

Because we will not be quite the same. No christian loopholes here.
Matthew 22:23-33
23 On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him, 24 asking, "Teacher, Moses said, `IF A MAN DIES HAVING NO CHILDREN, HIS BROTHER AS NEXT OF KIN SHALL MARRY HIS WIFE, AND RAISE UP CHILDREN FOR HIS BROTHER.' 25 "Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother; 26 so also the second, and the third, down to the seventh. 27 "Last of all, the woman died. 28 "In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her." 29 But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 "For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 "But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: 32 `I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.

Because in the spiritual body there is no giving or taking in marriage. Also, lets say you are in your twenties and your wife dies in a tragic car accident. God does not want you to go through the rest of your entire life alone, lonley, with no companion. He wants you to be happy, and so you are free to re-marry should you desire to do so. However, this union is only intended for the flesh life.

say you die at the age of 89, and your 29 years old wife is planning to live for a few years more, but if she vowed "for eternity" she is stuck with a corpse, and even that does not remain in prime condition for long.

Galatians 3:28; there is neither jew, nor, greek, there is neither bond, or free, there is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
After Death we take on the true image of Our Lord, and become Spiritual beings. Just like God. Thats why..

Because the Bible says "At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven" (Mat 22:30)

It's because all of our souls - if you will - the energy stuff that continues to exist after our mortal coil has passed - is connected into one. In other words the 'spiritual' part of us continues to exist forever on one or more planes of existence.
The mortal or human part of us marries, but the spiritual part of us is already joined. Therefore when you die your souls are re-united.

Because there is no "eternity" for individuals -- when you die, that's it. Any idea of an afterlife is just the superstitious fantasies of fearful people who don't want to die. There's no evidence of any kind that it's actually real...
