Does anyone have a (sensible) suggestion what whould help "Jumping leg syndrome" to be eased? As it keeps me awake most nights a helpful answer would be appreciated.
(JLS occurres when you are going to /are asleep and your legs jump violently enough to wake you.)
I have tried the GP who just offers sympathy and says it is a side effect of arthritis.

I have the same, restless leg syndrome. Doesn't happen all the time but drives you crazy when it does. Lack of potassium is thought to be a cause, so I usually eat a banana in the evening before going to bed and that does work. I've never heard of it being a side effect of arthritis but maybe you are taking medication which depletes your potassium levels. Try a banana a day and see how you get on.
Good luck

Hiya,
Are you taking painkillers? if so this could be a side affect to dihydracodiene and higher doses of codiene, it is exactly what happens when your brain is wanting another hit of codiene, they are withdrawal symptoms, try taking them just at bedtime..hope this is of some help
