No, Honey thats not a good idea
if you lost the dog, chances are that it will come back.
dogs are very smart.
dogs have different personality. althought they might not notice at the moment but give the owners about 30 mins and they will def know that its a diferent dog. you should be honest with the owners who should and would understand. best wishes and hope you find the dog!!

I wouldn't do it. The answer to this question really depends on how well the owner knows the dog. But I can tell you from experience that most dog owners that really care about their dog will know them quite well and will tell, sooner or later, that it's not their dog.

Honesty is really the best solution here. Tell the owner gently, don't use harsh words, and apologize for losing their dog. Then maybe offer to help pay for the funds of buying a new dog of the same breed, if that's what they want to do.

An owner knows his own dog. There is no way, you can replace the lost dog with one that looks like it . The owner is going to know that's not his dog. Have you tried to find the dog you lost? He could still be in the area.

Trust me, the owner will know. Keep looking for the dog until you either find it, or the owner returns. Then, you will have to fess up I am afraid. I know I would definitely know if somebody tried that on me. Once you have a dog, they are like your children and you sure wouldn't try to pass off another child as someones child. Do yourself a favor and do the right thing here.

The owner can tell his/her own dog among 1000 other dogs. The dog's behaviour won't be the same, and even the looks aren't identical.

they r gonna know, good try though, but i suggest u just tell them, u know some times things just happen I'm sure u didn't just get up a decide to loos the dog , but u can call the police to see if there was a dog picked up by animal control that fits that type of dog.

the owner will notice. Take out ads and put up signs and check with the local shelters. it is more than likely the dog will show up. my neighbors dog showed up over 700 miles from where they had lost it. but with all shelters being notified it was found.

Uh. Obviously NO.

They are probably going to kick the **** out of you - and rightly so.

What did you do to find the dog? Did you call the police? Animal Control? Some cities only have to keep the dog for 72 hours and they they will kill it.

Good job. That's really sickening.

no, owner would notice. and what do you mean you "lost" the dog,did it run away or die? if it ran away it will be back, but you can put fliers up and call around. and besides, doing something like that is decieving and downright wrong. (i doubt your friend would ever trust you again) good luck in finding him

Um.....no.

Heck, my step-father once tried this trick with my pet MOUSE, and I noticed right away that he was acting differently. If you'd notice with a mouse, you'd sure as heck notice with a dog.

The fact the Fred had babies a few weeks later confirmed my suspicions. BUSTED!
