I ate sushi last night like I have done many times in the past. This time, I woke up in the morning and my eyelids are swollen almost shut. What can I take to make this go away?

Benedryl will help the swelling, but I doubt it was due to the Sushi, such allergic reactions occur immediately after coming in contact with the allergen. I suspect some sort of pollen new to your environment has affected you, before I would suspect the sushi.

Benedryl - take at least 2 tablets or 4 teaspoons of the liquid (generic diphenhydramine hcl)

Then get to your physician and request referral for allergy testing.

In the meantime, eat no more seafood or shellfish of any sort and read labels as the next reaction is likely to be worse if that's what it is.

If you have any further symptoms, especially any swelling of the mouth, lips, tongue or an itchy throat, get to the nearest emergency facility quickly.

Continue taking the Benedryl for several days to gather up the histamines that are flooding your body right now... it will make you sleepy but it will halt the process most likely since it was not an immediate reaction.

Try some benedryl. And keep your eye on it. I don't know why you'd have an allergic reaction to sushi...generally it's the seafood that's in sushi. Did it have any shrimp in it? Just watch out with seafood in the future. Seafood allergies can come on for a person, even as an adult. This time (and hopefully just this time) you could puff out, the next it could make your throat swell. Be careful!

Sounds like you had too much soy sauce/sodium. If you had an allergic reaction to the sushi itself, you would have had it last not, not this morning.
