'Solution' implies that there is a problem. I don't think there is a problem here at all.

I actually have real concerns about this. It seems to me that homosexuality is the only "abnormal" trait that the medical field totally walked past. There are people who are homosexual and dont want to be but really what choice do they have? I know that back in the 70s and part of the early 80s the medical and psychological field were testing things like hormone replacement to see if this could change homosexual tendencies but why did they stop? It has become either accept it as "who you are" or "find God and completely stop" There isnt a single other trait that is "out of the norm" that has only those 2 choices. Christians cant even say that the only way to overcome homosexuality is to come to God, because the Bible never says it, nor does it show anyone being once a homosexual and then becoming "straight" through God. Even if homosexuality is genetic, why did the medical field stop trying to reverse it like they try to reverse every other genetic "adnormality"?
I think it sucks, a good friend of mine is gay and would really rather not be, but he cannot change who he is attracted to but the Drs tell him to accept it, and the Christians tell him to just reject it. As if any of them can "just reject" anything thats part of every second of their life. My friend wants the life of a home, wife and children but how is he supposed to just "make" himself attracted to women?

Jesus is the only solution to any sin in your life. I stress that you don't have to "clean yourself up" to believe in Jesus. You decide to trust Him, and He will work with you from there. I have an eating disorder. I struggle DAILY with this disorder. I also had a lot of other addictions which I have overcome. I have to deal with food EVERYDAY. Its a problem in my life. I have an abnormal addiction for food. I can no more "turn that off" than I could not breathe. Each day, however, I walk closer and closer with God. I am not perfect in this area. I trust God each and every day. I find the biggest help for me is daily communication with God, then helping another human being in some way. I go out of my comfort zone, and I learn fform them as I tell them about what God has done for me. I am no more loved, or no less loved by God than you, or anyone else. Its a relationship God seeks. Trust Him to guide you and help you along way.

we can burn them at the stake again, or rape their land and homes right out from under them because though we are all human, straight people deserve first dibs. maybe we should gather all the gays we can and send them off to prison camps to be exploited and killed, which would lower the "homosexual problem" by simple elimination. Or we can reject them from church or go on holy missions to convert their mental and biological processes, or buy and sell them into slavery, as obviously that is the way to deal with individuals who dare to be them selves. never mind that as time progresses our minds progress. if the bible is literal today, despite modern awareness of human rights and the education that is available on all of the world's cultures, then our past methods of dealing with the bigotry of 'christians' should work just as well as it did back then.
considering their logic on why they judge others, and how untaught many are in the fields of psychology, religion (other than their own), science, literature, history...etc..., this question is too hard for them to answer using their circular reasoning.
people don't provide constructive solutions for the 'problems' of others. how can they when they don't understand the actual issue? instead, we do things like hide behind props like the bible or the flag to justify hatred for those by whom we feel threatened. if they really had god in their heart, we wouldn't have such a shortage of soldiers right now. at some point, we realize we simply needed to pay attention to our own dear issues, so we cover up the embarrassment of making hasty judgments without weighing the implications by stubbornly sticking to the original bigoted goal of not only trying to convince others who are the minority that they are wrong, but also of trying to eliminate them from society, whether it be our within our neighborhood community or our world community.
god bless the president of america.

Has anyone else noticed that the only solution that people are coming up with is religion?
Homosexuality isn't treated like alcoholism. There's no 12 Steps to Heterosexuality, no Homos Anonymous.
That's because there IS NO PROBLEM. The only problem is the one being put forth by the Bible thumpers.

Jesus say this in Matthew: "I tell you the truth, ever since the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force."
It is extremely hard to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Jesus says that He sits at the right hand of the Father. The Father's throne is Heaven. Therefore Jesus is in Heaven with his Father for they are one. Jesus says that anyone that will follow after Him must deny himself, pick up his cross and follow him. To deny yourself means you must die to yourself. You must die to your will and let God's will work within your heart. Before a man is born again through the regeneration of his heart by the work of the Holy Spirit, he is evil in God's sight and lives for himself. He lives for his lusts, whether it be the pride of life or the lust of the flesh. To act out homosexual tendencies is exactly that. The lust of the flesh. How can one stop lusting after the flesh? The answer has already been revealed. You must die to yourself, pick up your cross and follow Jesus.
Again the kingdom of heaven suffers violence. It is a violent act to deny oneself the lusts this world has to offer. For a man not to act an incredibly strong urge to sin in the flesh with another man takes violence. When your heart is right with God, and you truly have repented of sin and put your trust in Jesus' finished work on the cross, then allow God to work within your heart to regenerate your heart. Regeneration occurs when you no longer seek after the pleasures of this world, but seek after the will of God in heaven.
Amen.

You're asking magic believers for a solution to a problem that mostly only magic believers have? It just seems irrational to ask for a solution based on reality from people who believe in something that's not based on reality.

What do you mean by solution?
With any sin, you cannot change on your own. You have to repent of the sin and pray to God that he will help to guide you away from that sin and help you to get closer to Him.
That doesn't mean that all of the sudden you will be straight. That'd be like saying an alcoholic goes to an AA meeting and never has the urge to drink again. We all have temptation and it is a constant battle. There is no easy way to stop sinning.

Sin is sin to God.. A lie is the same as a homosexual lifestyle to Him. The solution for anyone who is in sin and practicing sin is to seek the truth about your Creator and the provision He has for everyone in His Son Jesus Christ. God changes people from the inside out, if you let Him.
