I need help please! My son has a room in the basement, two of the walls are cement. We let him and his friends all write on the walls with washable markers BUT they also have decided to spray paint on some of it! My landlord is selling the duplex we live in...we will still live her but, he has a realtor coming today and shortly after potential buyers will be coming through. How do I get those walls covered and what do I use??? Any suggestions is GREATLY appreciated!!

Before you paint the final colour, use primer first. . Then use what-ever colour you were going to finish with. That should cover it up. If there's still a little something showing through after the first coat of the final paint, put on another one, it should completely cover.
Note: get the primer tinted to match, but slightly lighter, then the final colour. That will help a lot.

unless you know exactly what they used, the only option is a stain killing primer and then a paint. i believe the only primer on the market worth using is kilz original (not low odor or latex). this will STINK, so make sure you can adequately ventilate the area. i would suggest using two coats as well, typically you can recoat kilz in 1 hour. after 2nd coat kilz, wait overnight if possible, then top coat with whatever you want.

the concrete walls may be tricky. are they concrete, or block? determine how rough the surface is and make sure you buy a thicker roller if needed.

another note on kilz, it is alkyd based, not water based. clean up is enough of a p.i.t.a. you should buy cheap materials for the application (brushes, roller, cover, tray liner, etc.) in case you need to throw away (allow to dry prior to discarding). also, make sure you are covered properly, especially a hat. takes forever to get it out of your hair.

a great form of people do, exceedingly now with the financial device how that's. people are fixing up their properties, when you consider that they might take a tub attempting to sell. $a hundred twenty five for any room is inexpensive. be useful to place a disclaimer in there that if any patching desires to be completed, it rather is going to likely be an upload-on. 2d coats, priming, and so on., are additionally added. proscribing the size of the room is a good thought too. A 20x20 great room with 2 tale partitions could desire to fee a heck of plenty better than $a hundred twenty five. be useful to state that this does not comprise paint. desire this facilitates.

You can cover wall with a big decorating looking carpet, or if you want paint it now, you can go to home deport and ask them which paint to use on cement. ( paint it over might be easier than to clean the whole wall with magic eraser or Googone!)

ok, there's this great stuff called Taginator (www.taginator.com) that takes paint off of concrete and cement.. OR you can paint over it. Head to Home Depot and go to the paint section. Explain what you're trying to do and they will set you up!!

first of all, you shouldn't have let your children paint on the basement walls, and you probably will be paying for it when you do move...

Paint the walls with "KILZ". It covers everything with a few coats.
