I am somewhat of a pro at breaking up. I think your list sounds good so far - whatever you need to do that isn't self destructive - but i must admit, the occassional self destructive drunk is just - well - fun. I have no idea if you are male or female but men (in my opinion and experience) make the mistake of trying to "just forget" or not "dwell on it" but ignoring your feelings will only make things worse, and for a very long time. I talk to ex boyfrineds who describe details about or relationship and our breakup that I have long since forgotten and I believe it is becuase I did major "healing" right away instead of ignoring. Sure you'll get back in the game, don't do that stupid thing and say you'll never date again, at the same time don't let anyone tell you you need to get back in right away. Oh - you wanted a list? ok..
1)Journal
2) talk to friends
3)go for walk or some type of fun exercise
4)try to remember your interests before you even met the person - get back into old hobbies or find nw ones - anything expressive like painting is great.
5)have a sad movie and/ or music marathon - sometimes crying about someone elses problem can help you emote when you are just sick of hearing about your own problem.

and sometimes doing something silly and sarcastic like making a list of "why I didn't want you anyway" is god for a laugh.

Ooh - and don't forget to encorperate your spirituality if you have developed it - if not, this might be your chance.

remember - constant "destruction" must take place so that creation can occur.

I'm trying to figure that out myself. The only thing I find myself doing is becoming dependent on my friends. Trying to forget about my ex. Putting myself in a new environment. Keeping busy with anything. Trying to accept the situation. Ultimately the only way you can get over something is to eventually try to get yourself to accept the situation. Its hard b/c we hold onto hope because of all the history, but we have to keep reminding ourselves of the current situation and learn to move on from that. We have to learn to deal with that person not in our life.

Talk to my friends ad nauseum. Get a pedicure and go shopping. Then think about what a FOOL the dude is for dumping someone as awesome as me...and move on!
