It depends on the situation.
Just a regular bath, once a week is plenty (but if the skin dries out, cut it down to every other week) ONLY USE PUPPY SOAP if the puppy is under 12 weeks. Flea/Tick dip or wash is NOT for puppies under 12 weeks, so don't take the chance.
If they're getting dirty in between baths, try using the 'bath wipes' at petsmart. They're like baby wipes, but are pet-safe. They'll 'spot clean' the pup, and leave a fresh smell. I use them on my dogs after they roll in the grass.

just dont use any dog shampoo on him til after 12 weeks. If you do it could kill him. if under 12 weeks you can just use baby shampoo. I usually give my dogs a bath about 2 or 3 times a month. If i wash my little doggie anymore than that she starts to get dry.

We take our bulldog to the groomers once a month, bathing too much isn't good. We also have a friend whose jack russell swims with them in their pool and he doesn't seem to mind the chlorine, it's really cute and funny!!

give him/her a bath when dirty. You dont want their skin to get overdry. The skin needs to be able to produce the oils to keep it from getting dry, so dont keep washing it off.
I rarely bathe my jack, I spot bathe him if he finds the mud.
Make sure you cut the nails even if you arent bathing him, they grow quick, and mine hates to have it done.
