I don't think for me it is just monetary. For me it also implies obey the laws of leadership in your country. If you must pay taxes pay them. What is God's is Gods and what is Ceasar's is Ceasars.

"Render unto Caesar what is Caesar"s was the rallying cry of an anti-Roman terrorist group called the Zealots. It referred to stabbing Romans with their own swords. There was an inner corps within the Zealots called the Secarii who were political assassins. I have have seen it suggested that Judas Iscariot was originally Judas the Secarii, but the meaning got lost in all the translations.

This has nothing to do with churches as some are saying, This means to pay your taxes & so on, Render to God what is God, Tithes & Offerings, Render to Ceasar what is ceasar, taxes, payments & so on.

God has allowed the governments to rule as Romans 13:1 says "Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God."
So we would obey the laws of the land as long as they do not conflict with God's laws.
Mark 12:17 "Pay back Cesar's things to Cesar, but God's things to God. " It would obviously have to do with paying of taxes, fee's due the government. A true christian would not cheat or lie on their taxes, or avoid not paying something due the government, such as car registration, insurance, driver's license, property tax etc.... but it could apply to anything even non-monetary, such as putting your kids in school, getting pets vaccinated; basically obeying the laws as long as it does not go against God's laws.

It depends upon how far you extrapolate the interpretation. The rest of the quote read, "and render unto God what is God's". Think about all the things we're required to do in the name of God for our salvation, the furthering of the Kingdom of Heaven and etc. then ask yourself, "Have I rendered my share"? Maybe that will help your interpretation some!

It is meant with regards to respect for the authority of governments provided they do not interfere with God's laws. For example, we must obey traffic laws, but if the government were to try to put a halt to religion, we would continue to worship as this is what God requires of us.
I don't know what Spiritwalker was implying about "jovies" and Christmas with regards to this as no where in the Bible does God say that the celebration of that Holoiday exists nor is necessary. It is a worldly holiday and treated as such by the world.

Ceasar was like a pimp daddy. All the gold chains and the big entourage. Just grow pears and pumpkins in your back yard. You'll be much happier. The guys wearing dresses didn't get anyway.
