Hi,
My puppy swallowed my ring. The ring is not sharp or anything. So my question is should I take him to the vet? Or should I just wait for it to pass? He seems fine. But I'm not sure what I should do. Please help.

You may want to still have an xray done by your vet to make sure the ring is not getting caught up in his intestines. Unfortunately if it does become lodged he will need surgery to save his life. He may pass it on his own, or even the vet can help him pass it with no problems.

One good thing about it is that a ring will show up on the x-ray. So, it is best that you bring your dog to the vet. The x-ray will show where it is located, or even if your puppy indeed have swallowed the ring. The vet can definitely speed things up too. If located in the stomach, they can even give something for them to vomit is out. If it gets trapped in the intestines, then it becomes an emergency procedure. Bring your puppy in to the vet's a little too late, and its bye-bye puppy. Then you'll have to get your ring out via a post mortem.

LMFAO I don't think I want to know how he got ahold of it in the first place! LOL Or why he'd want to eat it, but anyways.......... Get a mild laxative, maybe one for a child, I like phillips, for adults. It's mild, and it works withing half an hour, if that!

Call the vet and ask about a mild laxative. If he's says it's ok, then get a mild laxative, and give him half the recomended smallest dose. Depending on the dog size, depends on how much you give him. If he's a smaller dog, I'd give him about half a table spoon(or the smaller spoon, I always get them mixed up!), if it's a bigger dog, I'd give him a full table spoon(the small one). Or whatever the vet says to give him. Give it a couple hours, and keep him outside, or on the leash right next to the door, or in a smooth surfaced room, like the kitchen or bathroom. Something with tile or linoleum.

If nothing comes out within 4 hours, or the vet says no, then bring him into the vet. It could be stuck, or blocked. OW!!

LOL I wish you all the luck in the world!!! I really do! And when you get your ring out, wash it with ajax, dawn, and soak it in alcohol for me! lol Eww ~gag reflex~, sorry, mental image LMAO

I would wait and see if he passes the ring. My sister had a dog that did the same thing and within a day, it passed the ring. However, if you notice that he isn't pooping like normal, take him to the vet. The ring may be stuck if this happens. Good luck.

A friend of mine swallowed a coin n her mom gave her a banana and the coin came out soon. So just wait for your puppy to pass n give your puppy a banana too.

LOL- I think you should just wait for it to pass. If it doesn't pass in the next 2-3 days, then you may want to take him to the vet. I recommend keeping anything and everything out of a puppy's reach, because they will eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they can.

Funny that you asked this question. When my dog was a pup he ate my moms earing. We took him to the vet and the vet told us just to wait and look in his stool for it. It did pass about a week later. But it was caroded from the acid in the stomach lining. But he was fine afterwards. Just let it pass.

Let him try to pass it but if several days go by and no ring, I would take him to the vet, he could get a bowel obstruction.
