You are establishing bad habits. One day your metabolism may not keep up with them. Look at your mom and dad- are they thin? If so, you probably will be thin to average, but still junk food and lack of exercise can still give a skinny person heart problems!

If you're a tall thin guy, it's quite possible that you never will be. My ex was like that as a kid. Now he's built. Once you hit a certain age your metabolism will slow down, which will make it easier for you to gain weight. You can either gain it in muscle or in fat.
My suggestion would be to keep playing basketball. It's GREAT excersize and will help youto accomplish goals, by teaching you how to work for something. And start eating a bit healthier. Maybe instead of chips eat an apple. Nothing big. Just a small change will help you feel healthier and get you into a more healthy lifestyle.
By the way, I also have a cousin who has done nothing but eat junk food all her life.. She works out only occasionally, and she still wears a size 2 jeans!
People who tell you that something is inevitable are full of it. You never know what will happen in the future.

Possibly. Our metabolisms change with age. The fact that you do something physical for about 10 hours a week is much to your credit. Lots of kids your age just exercise their thumbs and their tongues playing video games, text-messaging and talking on their cell phones. If you want to be fit for life, dump the junk food because it is full of fat and chemicals and has very little of what your body needs. Good eating HABITS dictate the future of your body fat content. A nice sweet crisp apple is delicious and full of fibre, vitamins and juice. That sounds far more attractive to me than Cheezies or chips and pop. Everything you put into your body must be processed, the products filtered and useless content excreted and egested. Junk food puts strain on your liver, kidneys and gut. While you are young you will get away with it, but your habits today may cost you your good health in 15 or 20 years. Those years pass quickly, believe it or not. It seems like only yesterday I was 20 years old. I am 62 now and enjoying good health. If I was 62 and sick, life would not be a joy, but a pain.
This lesson goes for other behaviours as well. Smoking, drugs and drinking to excess, all exact a price down the road. Short term pleasure or highs, will cost you later. when you are young you take good health for granted. It is a huge blessing in your declining years. We have choices because we live in a free and democratic society. Choose wisely. There are long term benefits.

you get a couple hours of cardio 5 days a week, which isn't bad. however, as you grow up you will have less time to play basketball and your metabolism will inevitably slow down at some point. if, when this happens, you continue to eat a ton of junk food and spend your downtime playing video games, you may end up putting on a lot of weight. for now, just make sure you're getting nutrition from somewhere and keep playing basketball and you should be fine, so enjoy having the metabolism of a 14 year old boy while you still do. just make sure as you get older to keep getting exercise and be a little more careful about what you eat.

Just because you look healthy you may not be. You need to do 30 minutes of exercise of some kind a day to keep up being healthy.. I know this b/c my brother use to be like you and he got over weight. NOW he has lot 65 pounds exercising ans watching what he eats.. Just exercise and not eat too much cabs and sweets. Once in a while is good but not all the time..

Every year you metabolism slows down. That is the bodies motor that burns the calories, fast when you are young and slower and slower as you age.
So common sense says if you keep eating a really poor diet, you will gain weight as you age.
If you look at your parents High School Year Book, they were thin then, as time creeps by pounds just stay when you gain them.
At 16 I was 120, 27 I was 137, I am now 65 and weigh 176.
Just improve your eating habits for a lifetime.

Well, depends on if you eat at least 'some' healthy foods. You do exercises Monday-Friday, so your probably going to stay healthy. I would recommend getting involved an an activity at school or at your local gym. Your best bet is to not watch 'as much' television as you have been lately. I'm not saying to say away from it completely, just not as much. If your 14 now, you probably had most of your growth spurt already, so your probably going to get up the the height of 5"8, and if you exercises daily, and eat healthy you should weigh around 145 at the age of 21. Keep up the good work! -Luke Williams-

You will certainly gain weight as you get older, and these unealthy habits willl catch up to you. You really should exercise every day, at least as you get older. At your age you can probably eat whatever you want and not exercise for months with no ill effects. However, if you get yourself a little more regimented on what you eat and do on a daily basis, you will be much happier, healthier, and more energetic for it. The key to a healthy heart and lifestyle is diet and exercise.

yes. Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.
