As everyone above has answered, you can definitely feel "addicted" to MD or any other caffeinated beverage. However, your body has become dependent upon caffeine due to repeated use (tolerance has developed). If you were to stop drinking MD you would suffer withdrawal, which in my experience was marked by a severe headache and bad mood. However, tolerance and physical dependence alone do not constitute addiciton. Addiction and abuse involve knowledge of the substance interfering with your life (relationships, work, etc.) and the person still putting forth significant effort to obtain the substance. Since it is doubtful that MD (or the caffeine within) is causing such harm to your life (as opposed to drugs like alcohol, heroin, etc.), I argue that it is not an addiction.
The only way to avoid or at least reduce withdrawal symptoms if you wish to stop drinking it would be to taper off the drink. Another suggestion would be to switch another soft drink with less caffeine for your MD and then taper off that. The less caffeine your body is used to the less difficult the withdrawal will be.

I love Mountain Dew's taste. It eats right past my bad breath.
And considering it has one of the highest caffeine levels of regular sodas...
an 8oz cup of coffee typically has 104 to 192 mg of caffeine.
in a 12 oz drink...
mg Drink

41 Dr. Pepper
34 coca cola classic
37.5 Pespi
38 Big Red

Yes. I was addicted to it for over 15 years. Seriously, that's all I drank, and about a 12 pack everyday. It wasn't until I wanted to lose weight that I set it down and started drinking club soda so I could still have the fizz. I don't touch it anymore because now I think it's too sweet and makes me jittery.

The mountain dew the drink itself is not addicting, but the caffeine in it is. Just like any caffeinated drink, i.e. coke, coffee, tea.

The caffeine in it is, my husband is addicted to it, he drinks it morning noon and night but gains no weight so he's lucky. I would imagine if he ever quits drinking it he will have some severe headaches from not getting all that caffeine.
