my daughter's 10 year old poodle has started pooping in the house again. The pile I found this morning, had blood in it. Not just blood, but some clots as well. I was thinking maybe just hemoroids at first, but after looking at it closer, there was blood all through the stool. Should we wait a few days and see if it stops, or call the vet now ? I say call the vet now, but my husband says to give it a few days. I am worried, as he is my daughter's dog and she received him from my mother-in-law before she passed. If something happens to him, my daughter will really be flipping out. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can give.

I'd take the dog to the vet right away & take a sample of the stool with you. At 10 years old, it's better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck.

How long has it been since the dog was wormed? You may need to do that. If you don't treat the dog yourself, you may need to go ahead and take it to the vet. In past experiences with dogs, that is usually the first sign of worms. I try to make a habit of worming mine every 30 days-Good luck and I hope the dog does better-

It could be any number of things such as ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, hemorroids, clots, etc. I would take the dog to the vet immediately (with stool sample). Bleeding like that could be serious. Best of luck!

I'm also sorry for your loss.

CALL THE VET!! This is not a normal thing and should be checked immediatly. It may be as simple as intestinal parasites or indicative of a major problem. Good luck.

Off to the vet. If/when they change their bathroom habits there is a reason. The blood would worry me. You need a fecal matter exam at the least. Best of luck!

Must likely it could just be from hemorrhoids but if it is black then she could be bleeding in the intestines somewhere. I would call the vet first just to get his opinion. God Bless!
