You can request your DD-214 on line.. I'd call before making that drive. You maybe only able to request one from the office. I had to reclassify discharge type, and get a new 214. Wasn't any problem, I did it online, but it did take a month to get.

It isn't that easy. You will have to fill out some paperwork, and it can take weeks for it to be processed. There are forms online, and you can even request it online, and print out a signature page and mail it in. Just showing up will likely result in you filling out the paperwork, driving home, and waiting to get it in the mail weeks later.

When you do get a new copy, take it to your county clerks office. They will be able to register it with the county, and have it on record. If you lose it again, you will be able to get it through them much quicker.

U need to make sure you turn in DA31 for your termainal leave early. It would be good if u turned in 2 to 3 months before u want to get out. By doing this you it gives your unit time to get your ETS order ready, and admentents. Then when u clear your base/army about 10 to 15 working days before u would start your termainal leave. the day before u will take terminal leave you will get a DD214. Make sure your ERB or ORB is updated all the way before get it because most of the infor for the DD214 comes from your ERB.

Probably not. They don't just hand out these things like candy. You have to go through a lot of paperwork to get a replacement. That is why when you are separated from the military, they told you to guard this document with your life.

Probably not and if you mail off for it, it will take months to get it.

As long as you have I.D., preferably your SSN card, you should be able to get it, or get it mailed to you. I suggest you get it notarized too while you are at it.

It's not that easy. You can do it on line. It still takes time!
