When I got my loans I went through the college financial aid department. I had no credit history or cosigner. I would suggest checking with your college to see what they offer and also check with Sallie Mae. After you graduate you can get your loans consolidated through them also. This will lower your payment amount and interest rate. I had my student loans (total over $20,000) consolidated through Sallie Mae about 2 or 3 years ago. The interest rate is very low (3.75%) and payments are under $100. Good Luck!

Do a search for the "FAFSA" web site; the correct site is free of charge. FAFSA is the federal student financial aid organization. The financial aid office at any college or university will lead you through the FAFSA process free of charge. FAFSA loans don't require a co-signor as long as no one can claim you as a dependent; they don't require a credit history because you can't get rid of student loans through bankruptcy. However, you may be eligible for FAFSA grants (they don't have to be repayed).
