I mostly eat tilapia, and flounder. When I order fish at a restaurant its always so good, but when I bake it I find it to taste rather bland. Any tips on how I can spice it up without adding unhealthy stuff. Im eating more fish to stay healthy and help with weight loss. Thanks in advance. Keep in mind that im not a good cook, and on a budget.

Place the fish in aluminum foil and add in the following:
Sliced onions, carrots, and leeks. ginger (about 1 tablespoon sliced into strips) 1 - 2 table spoons of olive oil, fresh basil, salt, pepper, juice of 1 lemon, then slice lemon and place on top of the fish, and some broth or white wine (about 3/4 of a cup or enough so there is a little bit of liquid at the bottom). Then close the aluminum foil at the top to make like a package. Place in the oven for 20-40 depending on the size of the piece of fish you are cooking at 300 - 350 degrees. Very flavorful, juicy, healthy, and delicious! Enjoy

Lemon juice and some pepper. If you like mint, try some lemon mint or just regular mint. There are so many different ways to flavor your fish. Try doing a search on herbs and spices. Learn to use them, mix it up so you don't get bored. You could also try a salsa or relish for over the fish.

Try checking out this web site. Maybe it will give you a few ideas. Good luck!!

Try lemon and lime juice on your fish, or some red pepper flakes on it. Keep in mind that adding flavor doesn't automatically mean you are adding tons of salt to a dish. You can also broil your fish with some cajun spices, that sounds good.

I'm making myself hungry now.

Good luck!

Bread crumbs, and lemon juice on top with a little bit of sliced tomato, is my favorite. . .I add some butter so it all cooks together nicely but if you would rather omit it to keep the recipe healthier, you could just as easily use a butter substitute, or even olive oil. Just something to give it some moisture for cooking.

Cook it "en Papillote". Make a pouch out of parchment paper or foil. Put in your fish, a splash of white wine, some herbs, maybe a cherry tomato or two, lemon zest, capers, etc. Seal the pouch and bake it 12-15 minutes at 450.

Fresh herbs...basil, garlic, rosemary. All will add flavor with little or no calories. Also try fresh lemon juice and lemon zest. Try to stay away from salt. Mrs. Dash also has some great spice mixtures that will work as well. Good Luck...

Myself I like to add a bit of a kick to fish, either Blacken it in a Skillet and toss it in the oven for 5 mins or just sprinkle Creole seasoning on and bake as you usually would

Salt is tasty but not healthy
As far dry spices go...i use any combination of garlic, onion powder, chives, crushed chili peppers, pepper, onion flakes, salad seasonings, try different combos of each youll find some that attracts your pallettes......when cooked drizzle with lemon.....or lime...or vinegar...settles some of the fishy taste and bring out the flavour.
You can also try five chinese spice, or tarragon, parsley. dill, marjoram, sage, thyme....with these i put a little red vinegar or malt vinegar.....good luck happy experimenting

Marinade the fish in creamy Italian dressing and before baking, slice an orange and put a few slices of the orange on the top of the fish and bake. Yum, yum. My hubby does this, he fishes a lot and we do this often for our fish.

I love adding horseradish to salmon when cooking it with a little bit of vegetable oil. Also LOVE cooking fish in beer. I broil it in garlic and a dark beer until it's flaky.

Oh...beer isn't unhealthy!
