am 20 years old and live at home. I go to school full time (15 credits, 5 classes) at community college and plan on transferring to a 4 year and commuting and living at home still. I also work 25 hours a week and close to full time during any breaks I have. Should I move out on my own? And if I wanted to move out how many hours would i need to work? I make $9 an hour. I want to move out but dont want it to interfere with school?

You can get a roommate and share a place or rent a room, rather than paying for an apartment on your own. If your family life is calm and stable, and you're contributing to their household expenses and your family isn't adverse to having you there, why move? If you're not able to figure out a budget for your own living expenses and cost of living, you better stay put.

You have a lot on your plate. Of course if you have a strong enough drive and work ethic you could do it on your own. I would say that @ $9 an hour depending on where you live, that may or may not be enough to live off of on your own even working full time. I live in Orange county in So Cal and when I was going to school and working full time @ $15 an hour I was barely scraping by...If u live out on the far side of the moon in the middle of nowhere than the cost of living may be less, I don't know by how much less. Would it affect your school work? Probably unless you found something stronger than coffee but I would not recommend that method because in the end that would affect your job AND school. I know what it's like to want to move out on your own but don't bite off more than you can chew, I did the same thing you want to do when I was about 19 and I survived but it was difficult and if I could do it again, I would have stayed with my parents so I could totally concentrate on school, they are carrying a lot of weight so you don't have to, take advantage of that and appreciate it and remember, you'll be out on your own soon enough carrying your own weight in the world.

If I was you and living at home aint that bad I would stay at home. My husband and I both work over 40 hours a week and we hardly make it. It would be alot of stress on you if you were to move out on your own.

You should stay at home...if you move out you will be unhappy because of your financial situation. Start saving up so when you are completely finished with school you can move out on your own and maybe even buy a house.

I lived at home until I was 25 - as long as your parents are ok with it, stay home and save some money !

if u will move out then consider all the real world expenses to take care off, plus u have to cook ur own meal. Rather stay home and finish ur school first.

TRUST ME ON THIS!!! Stay at home for as long as possible. Its SOOO MUCH easier to study and be committed to school when you dont have to worry about paying bills. STAY AT HOME- or if your parents can afford it, go to a dorm at the 4 yr school if they offer it. GOod luck

You should stay home and go to school. Moving out there is so much to worry about. Bills, cleaning, ext... You shouldn't have to worry about that to. Making something of yourself and then when you are ready then leave.

That would depend on where you live, and what the cost of rent is. I am 38 and my daughter and I live with my parents because I cannot afford to live in my area on my own (Boca Raton, Fl). The price of housing/rent in my tri-county area is ridiculous.
