It's over 50,000 hours nowadays - which probably means 6-7 years of intense TV watching or 9-10 years if watched more sparingly. Lifespans are better than they were just a few years ago, but expect to service it somewhere down the road- and yes, the picture will start to dim after just a year or two.

When I used to sell TVs, manufacturer's claimed 30k hours, eventually Panasonic claimed 60k hours. But until plasma is left on for 6.8 years (60k hours 24 hours a day)... how can anyone know for sure? I saw a few fail on the showroom floor. Many were sold, a few came back, it's like any other electronic... they last 3months to 10 years, there are no guarantees.

This depends on whether they get proper nutrition, frequent exercise and how happy they are. Attitude has been proven to effect lifespan. Also, being clean and electro-static free really makes a Plasma TV feel good about itself.

3-4 years so you end up also with a high end electric bill as well, so it will cost you an adverage of 20-30 a month to own one an extra 10 on the payment for electrical use if there bigger then 30 inches

Minimum is 15 years and the maximum life span I can say is 25 years. It all depends how it is maintained.
