Not at all. But what the Religious right is trying to do is put sex in it proper place. That is in a marriage relationship between a husband(man) and wife (women).

To everyone who has said that Christians want to outlaw everything the Bible says is immoral...no. Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell want to outlaw everything the Bible says is immoral. And yes, there are Christians who follow them. But many, myself included, don't. I think that the Bible condemns homosexuality and premarital sex...that doesn't mean they should be illegal. The Bible also condemns cotton-polyester blends. Such things should be taken with a grain of salt.

As far as I know, only Catholics are against birth control, and they don't want it outlawed...they just don't use it. Many Christians are against abortion, but that can hardly be put in quite the same category as condoms and the pill.

Oh, and in the post directly below mine...pharmacists have refused to sell RU-486 pills, aka the "morning after" pills, because these are viewed as a type of abortion. Since the egg has already been fertilized and conception has occurred, it is seen as destroying a human life. Because many in the religious right classify this as abortion, they wish it to be outlawed. However, the majority of birth control methods (the ones that prevent conception) are fine for Protestants.

Depends on the TYPE of birth control. Most Christians have no issue with birth control (such as diaphrams or condemns) which prevent conception. There is on fertilization of the egg - no conception - so there is no issue involved.

But some do have an issue with birth control which prevents implantations (such as IUD). Meaning, the egg becomes fertilized but then is prevented from attaching itself to the woman, and thus dies. If life begins at conception, then that would be the taking of a human life.

Birth control, sex ed, gay rights, evolution, freedom of choice, free thought, etc. Yes, there is an agenda on the part of the religious right to outlaw EVERYTHING that they feel goes against what they decide is the "will of God." Try an internet search for "Christian Dominionism" or "dominionist" and see what comes up. They are the extremists of right wing Christianity.

There may be some on the far right lunatic fringe that want to have birth control outlawed, but they would be in an extremely small minority.

I sure hope not.

I am a Christian and am all for BC. I feel in our society today it is almost unreasonable to try to make people adhere to old testament teachings. To me preventative measures are much better than the alternative.

Also many young women take BC to help regulate their periods, so it isnt just used for birth control but for health reason as well.

Anti-choice, anti-birth control advocate Eric Keroack was recently appointed chief of family-planning programs at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) by President Bush.

I would think that someone who is anti-birth control would be uniquely unqualified to be the chief of family planning. Call me crazy. As for our leaders having the right to decide for us where and when sex is appropriate all I can say is wow. I thought this was American where we have the right to make these kinds of choices for ourselves.

Yes. There have been instances where pharmacists on the religious right have refused to fill birth control prescriptions.

Although some seperate churches feel that way. Hopefully anyone with a brain would not. There are too many unwanted kids in this world as it is. I'd much rather someone took a pill than had an abortion later!!!!

Even if they outlaw it, nature herself will keep human population in check. There will be more homosexuals, more babies born sterile, more illness, more disease, more damage to the ecosystem and ultimately our numbers will be culled one way or the other.

I'm married to a man with a 5:1 abnormal to normal sperm ratio, even though I am reproductively sound. We are part of mother nature's master plan.

No. The religious right is protestant, and has no opposition whatsoever to birth control. But they might try to get rid of sex ed -
