oh god! i have a five month old puppy and he loves to eat leaves, i just try to be consistent in stopping him and distracting him, other than that there sint really anything u can do, smacking him will only encourage the pup to bite, so yeah i really would just reward the good and discourage the bad.

My puppy loves to eat anything in the garden. It's just normal behaviour (all my dogs have done it, so I guess you were just lucky with your other dog). The pup will probably grow out of it after a while- give him a chance- he's only 4 months!!

Get a spray bottle-buy as clean new one with a nozzle that can be adjusted to shoot a stream of water & blast them in the face whenever they do it. You really have to correct them from doing bad behavior. I wish my mother would do this to her puppy who barks uncontrollably. On the other hand this puppy will probably grow out of it but you need a way to let them know they need to knock it off.

You can also get a tin can like one that peanuts come in & put some coins in it. Whenever they do what they aren't suppose to do shake the can & make noise at them. Be consistant.

I'm not a dog expert, but I would guess that is normal puppy behavior. Perhaps you should keep some puppy toys in the garden so your dog has something else to play with. Give a call to your vet to know for sure.

I say build a pretty fence around the garden. Give the pup a giant bone to chew on before he gets intestinal blockage. Give him sticks to chew on, a real baseball, stuff like that. If he is still eating rocks after that then you may have to seek a pro.

Don't worry, the dog knows better than you!

This is natural for digestion and teeth

The intensity will pass but any healthy dog will do this from time to time

Bred Shepherds and Ridgebacks-normal behavior
Perhaps you just haven't seen the shitzu doing this but even fully grown dogs will chew greens to settle their stomachs

puppies chew on everything. ours is 7 months old and is almost done with the leaves, thankfully she gave up on rocks at about 4/5 months. it was so hard taking her for walks because she would pick up every rock or leave or twig we went past, and of course it was autumn so the leaves were always blowing past her....

you need to stop her/him from even picking one up to begin with. we gave up on leaves cause it was just a leaf, it cant hurt. but rocks are bad! if she so much as started to sniff one we'd tell her no rock and pull her away. now she doesnt even bother.

is he hungry? If you are not feeding it on a proper puppy diet or not often enough like 4 times a day at this age, it may be ravenous. You MUST stop it as it can kill the pup.
